Most of our customers are aware of our frequent buyer programs for dog and cat dry kibble, freeze dried and frozen pets foods. Bill sends a reminder that there are also numerous in-store can promotions as well. We have many high quality brands, including Evangers and Weruva, that offer a free can with the purchase of 9 cans of equal size and value. Fromm offers a free can with the purchase of 12 cans.

The NJ Department of Health has reported the first confirmed cases of West Nile virus in our state. Residents are encouraged to protect themselves and their families from diseases transmitted by mosquito bites, like West Nile virus, by using protective clothing, applying insect repellants, and limiting outdoor activity. Sources of standing water, like flowerpots, provide locations for mosquitos to lay their eggs and should therefore be eliminated. For pond owners, Bill uses and recommends Mosquito Dunks. Mosquito season can last until October.

It's been a while, but Santa will be returning to Bill's this year for pictures once again! Our friends from PetPALS will be back with Santa for their fund raiser on Saturday, November 9th, 10 AM -

Attention pond owners! The summer may be half over but there are several months left to enjoy your pond. Bill has a new product, Pond Clarifier, from Microbial Science Laboratories, that he uses and absolutely loves! This is a 100% natural, organic and eco-friendly product containing a proprietary blend of beneficial bacteria. Even with the extremely hot temperatures we have experienced this summer, Bill's ponds have been free of algae and other "stuff". His fish are very healthy and happy, too.

It's HOT!!! and it looks like the hot weather will be with us for awhile. Bill sends his annual reminder to pet parents to be mindful of their dog's paws. Hot surfaces like asphalt and beach sand can heat up and burn dog's paw pads. Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the day, preferably in the shade and on the grass. If a surface is too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet. Keep your pet inside, never leave a dog in a car, and be sure to provide plenty of water.

Fathers' Day is next weekend. If you're looking for a gift, you may want to consider a gift card to Bill's, certainly a welcome gift for the hobbyist to use for that special fish or reptile as well as equipment and food. FYI- Depending on availability, we can special order unusual fish and reptiles if there is a specific snake, lizard, fish, etc. that your someone has in mind.

Bill is available on weekends for pond owners in need of advice for both pond fish and pond maintenance. We recently received a shipment of assorted, imported Koi, now ready to go home with you!

Here's a trip down Memory Lane for some local residents. Do you remember Evans Pet Store in Haddonfield? Mr. Evans retired several years ago and closed his shop. He stopped in over the weekend for a visit. Jim Evans now is a spry 95 years old, Bill is a spry almost 81 years old!

Happy Earth Day! We have been giving away free samples of our "p**p" bags today to pet parents who have dogs as a reminder to pick up pet waste. Dog waste can contain harmful bacteria and parasites that can spread to other animals and humans. It pollutes local waterways when washed away by rain and melting snow, adversely affecting fish and other aquatic life. It also can just leach through the soil into groundwater. Beside, cleaning up your pet's poo is the law in most areas!

There's a lot of activity in the wild bird world right now. Some birds are just passing through on their way to other destinations. Local birds are busy building nests, laying eggs and taking care of their chicks. All activities require energy and we can help our feathered friends by keeping our feeders well stocked and providing fresh water. This is a new product that was introduced at the Global Pet Expo. From our friends at Fromm, Bonnihill Farms is a line of fresh frozen dog foods made from top quality proteins and locally sourced produce from family owned farms. Three recipes (beef, chicken and turkey) have been gently cooked in small batches then frozen for thaw and serve convenience. We currently have all three in stock.

He's back! Bill was away at the 2024 Global Pet Expo last week at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. This is a huge event in the pet industry, featuring 1,100+ pet brands for all pets. The show lasts for 3 days and Bill was not able to see the whole show. This is an opportunity to see what is new as well as meet up with manufacturers to negotiate competitive pricing. Look for some new products in the coming months.

Look who came shopping with his "mom" over the weekend! This is Jersey. Jersey's mom bought him at Bill's about 4 years ago. We understand he has the run of their apartment (when someone is home of course) and he is "potty trained"! Love his outfit.

Pet Dental Health Month isn't just for dogs and cats. Small animals can also suffer from poor oral hygiene. Chewing and gnawing are the way small animals keep their teeth clean and exercise their gums. It is also the way small animals trim their teeth. Unlike dogs and cats, the teeth of some small animals, like hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs, continue to grow. Without the opportunity to wear down their teeth, they can develop dental deformities that can hinder their ability to eat. If you have a small fur ball, it is very important to provide your pet with something acceptable to chew on. By varying the type of toys and treats you buy, you will also help stimulate your pet's interest and prevent boredom that can contribute to depression in small animals.

February is Pet Dental Health Month so we are sending a reminder to pet parents that oral heath is an important part of their pet's overall health. Dental diseases and broken teeth can cause pain, and infections can spread throughout their body, adversely impacting other organs. Animals try to hide pain so it's important to look for clues, such as bad breath, drooling and refusing to eat. There are a variety of dental products available to help reduce tartar buildup, such as dental chews, water additives and toothbrushes (good luck with that). Choose whatever works for you and your pet and be sure to include a dental check-up as part of your pet's annual vet visit.

With the snow and ice, it's difficult for wild birds to locate their natural food sources. As you can imagine, Bill has several feeders in his back yard to help our feathered friends. This suet feeder is one of his favorites. Hanging just outside his kitchen window, it attracts a variety of wild birds.
