A Reminder to All Clients Regarding Cancelled or No-Show Lessons:
We know it is summer time, when families are planning vacations, schedules are flexible and kids are out having fun. We also know that scheduling errors happen. That said…our animals need to eat…and horses eat a LOT! That is why we have clearly written lesson policies covering no-show and cancellation payments.
You have each signed our lesson policy that clearly states that we require 24 hours notice of your intent to cancel a lesson (exceptions only for illness or true emergencies) or you will be charged for the missed lesson. Should you neglect to pay or refuse to pay for the missed lesson by the following scheduled lesson date, you will be removed from the lesson schedule until you do pay. We constantly have a waiting list and we will allow one of those clients to take your spot.
When you have a lesson time, that time is set aside just for you. Our instructor must travel to the barn, get set up for your lesson and refrain from working on other tasks during that hour. If you don’t show up AND don’t pay, we have wasted time, money and gas. We then have less money to care for our animals.
Additionally, please be aware that we will NOT hold a spot in camp or a date for an event until the non-refundable deposit is actually in our hands. These spots are first come first served and are in high demand. We love you all, but a promise to pay does not feed or vet the horses…only an actual payment can do that.
We are running a non-profit business with tight margins, and we do so in order to offer lower cost services to families who might otherwise not be able to ride. You may not be aware of this fact, but Brooke, myself and the others you see working at the farm do not take salaries. We are entirely volunteer run. We put in long hours, for YOU. We don’t require a month’s payment in advance, nor do we often raise our prices, though we probably should do so. Please respect our efforts by adhering to our payment policies without complaint, or complete a scholarship form off the website if you need to do so.
If this doesn’t apply to you, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. If it does…we still love you, just take care of this issue please so that we can keep doing what we do!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Stephens, LCSW
Executive Director
