New Summer Day Camp Starts Monday, June 17th!

Are you ready for a pawsitively amazing summer experience for your furry friend? Look no further! Our brand-new Dog Summer Camp is here, and it’s tail-waggingly awesome!

Here’s what you can expect: A set schedule & a rotating schedule.

Each day of camp will always include:

The Set Schedule

🌄 Full Day Daycare: Your dog will enjoy a full day of care, packed with activities that cater to their physical and mental well-being. It’s like a mini vacation every day! ☀️
🐶 Daily Walks Included: Stretch those legs! Every day includes a guided walk, ensuring your pup gets their daily dose of exercise and exploration. 🌳 If the weather is too hot, they get to use our Dog Powered Treadmill!

Rotating Schedule: Each week brings a new adventure! Our programs rotate weekly to ensure your pup never gets bored.

🐾 Tailored Training: Our mini training sessions are perfect for busy pet parents! These short, impactful lessons focus on obedience, tricks, and manners. Your pup will be a pro in no time!
👃 Scent Work/Hidden Treasure Games: Let your dog’s nose lead the way! Our Scent Work/Hidden Treasures challenge them to use their natural sniffing talents. It’s fun, rewarding, and mentally stimulating!
🎈 One-on-One Play: Personal playtime is key! We offer 1-on-1 play sessions where your dog gets undivided attention, ensuring they’re happy and engaged.

Common Massachusetts Ticks

Did you know that there are over 80 types of ticks that can found in the US?

The most common ticks found in Massachusetts are the black-legged (deer) ticks and dog ticks. These ticks can carry and transmit various disease-causing germs. The most prevalent tick-borne diseases in the state include Lyme Disease, Babesiosis, and Anaplasmosis.

It’s important to take preventive measures against tick bites, especially during their active seasons which typically peak from March/April through August, and again in October-November.

This week for Lyme Disease Awareness Month, we'll be sharing what to look for if you think your dog may have been bitten by a tick.

Although there are many types of ticks, not all of them carry Lyme Disease. The symptoms of Lyme will generally fall under the same signs and symptoms; however, a dog can be symptom free and still have Lyme.

What to look for: fever, loss of appetite, reduced energy, lameness, joint discomfort, and joint swelling.

May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month

This week we'll show you how to properly remove a tick:

Always grab the head of the tick, as they can still infect your dog if you remove the body but leave its head attached to your pet.

Holding the tick by the head, (as close to the skin as you can) pull straight back to keep them from breaking apart.

To dispose of the tick: If the tick is still alive when you remove them, you can flush them, or seal them in a bag to throw out.

With May being Lyme Disease Awareness Month, each week we'll be sharing different tips on how to help your furry friend!

Where should you look for ticks? Ticks can be found anywhere on the body, but don't forget to check those tricky spots like inside the ears, and between their toes and pads!

Always remember to remove ticks by their head and NOT their body!

To our Downtown Paw Family,

We are utterly heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of one of our founding daycare dogs, Maple. Maple passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly yesterday morning. Her parents were with her when she passed. Our hearts are truly broken for her family.

Maple, a Bernese Mountain Dog, started with us when she was 16 weeks old, and had recently turned 2 this past December. She was full of snuggles, sass, and gave the best side eye. She would tap you with her paw when she wanted some love, preferred to sleep on someones feet, and enjoyed being with the tiny tribe, even after she quickly out grew them. Maple frequently tried to convince us that second breakfast was required, and sometimes so convincingly, that we would message her dad asking if she ate, only for him to respond, "Oh, she ate breakfast. Don't fall for her lies!" Maple could always find a husky, her favorite, to play with in daycare. Her best friends were Teddy, and Glacier.

We're beyond grateful we got the opportunity to spend the time that we did with her, and watch her grow from a tiny ball of fur, to a goofey, lovable dog who had the kindest soul.

We love you, our little meatball.
