Stop Animal Cruelty in Hot Spring & Garland Counties - Arkansas On a two year average, Stop Animal Cruelty amazingly rescue, re-home or assist in the re-homing of over 800 pets and provide over 600 people with assistance.

STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY in Hot Spring/Garland Counties AR is an all-volunteer, non-profit, animal welfare group that works tirelessly rescuing pets from high-kill city shelters as well as the abused, neglected, and abandoned pets in our communities. We are an all-volunteer animal welfare group that works tirelessly re

scuing pets from the high-kill city shelter in Malvern, AR. All of which is accomplished by volunteers and with volunteer foster homes. Most people are surprised to hear we only have foster homes and no shelter. People often confuse us with the local “Humane Society” or “Animal Control” however they are different organizations entirely. Stop Animal Cruelty is the premier animal welfare organization in our area. We are a “No Kill” organization as we never have a healthy or treatable pet euthanized. We do not limit our program to healthy animals, particular breeds or the highly adoptable. Being an all-volunteer organization with foster homes, we are proud that donations directly benefit our rescued pets as there are no employees with expensive salaries or a shelter facility with large overhead costs. SAC has certified Humane Investigators who respond to over 300 reports of abuse or neglect each year in both Hot Spring & Garland Counties and intervene whenever necessary by way of education, or if need be prosecution. We are now the only local animal welfare organization that investigates reports of animal cruelty as unfortunately the local “Humane Society” will no longer provide this service. On a daily basis, our volunteers educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering and provide our communities with low cost vouchers. We are available to our local schools, churches and civic organizations to teach humane care and dog bite prevention as we are strongly committed to keeping our community’s children safe, as well as their pets.

Mollie is precious deaf senior Shih Tzu girl (10-12 yrs) who has been staying in a very loving foster home since Nov. Her foster has dutifully cared for her dry eyes (eye drops 2x a day), multiple vet visits but, unfortunately, one eye continues to bulge/have infection and must be removed. Hank's Rescue Thrift Store is now the new owners of the Stop Animal Cruelty Thrift Store as we are partnering! It is amazing! Mary Ann Taft was SAC's founder and artist Sue Kent's estate was very instrumental in acquiring the store. See below how Hank's Rescue is honoring these two wonderful women!

We have an entire room dedicated to animals.
This helps people in need of pet supplies to care for their pets or strays, without the high price tag.
Sue Kent was an animal lover like no other. Sue is a big part of how this store was able to happen several years ago. In her honor, the pet room is Sues room, and we will also have a space dedicated to Mary Ann Taft (founder of Stop Animal Cruelty in Hot Spring & Garland Counties - Arkansas) in honor of all she did for animals aswell.
Sue was an amazing artist.
We would like to keep one piece in the store.
The others we have talked it over with SAC and we have decided to do an auction for the other pieces to help bring in some vet care funds for both of our rescues.

This pretty girl is a 3 yr old C**n Hound mix who weighs 32 lbs.
Lucy is a happy, healthy and energetic girl who is great with kids, cats and other dogs, is house/crate trained, leash trained, spayed and fully vetted. Although she may be a bit shy when you first meet her, she warms up quickly and is very sweet and loving. Lucy has lots of energy and would love a big back yard to play in! EXCITING NEWS FOR STOP ANIMAL CRUELTY (SAC)!
We are very excited to announce that SAC has begun a partnership with Hank’s Rescue, founded and managed by Liz and Nick John in Hot Springs!
Our founder, Mary Ann Taft passed away in Jan, 2024 leaving a legacy of being a ‘voice for the unwanted, abused and neglect pets of Hot Spring and Garland Counties’. Together with Hank’s, we will continue to be that voice!
Hank’s Rescue has begun renovating the SAC Thrift store and is having a LET'S MAKE A DEAL SALE - MAKE OFFERS!. We know shoppers will be very pleased with the new, improved store!! More information re the store and it’s re-opening will be forth coming.
A bit about Liz & Nick and Hank’s Rescue. They enthusiastically entered the world of rescue when they found Hank, a pit bull, who had escaped a life of being tied up and was about to be killed by a stranger. Hank found his forever loving home with the Johns and became the inspiration for their rescue group! They have built a GORGEOUS small shelter of their own and have built shelters for other groups. In the future, they plan to build a larger shelter for dogs and cats!
SAC will continue working for animals and begin focusing on Mary Ann’s dream regarding spay/neutering of pets to prevent unwanted litters. We will share our experience, resources, talents and volunteers to support Hank’s rescue to grow and expand. We value our supporters and invite them to join us as we grow together with Hank’s Rescue!
