Constructed in 1975, the Animal Services Center is an open admission facility that houses sick, injured, or lost animals as a place for owners to look for their lost pets. We also take in the County's most dangerous animals and exotics. Once a pet is surrendered to the Center, the pet is examined by our veterinarian, provided with applicable vaccinations, and a behavior evaluation is administered.

Homeless pets who are healthy or have treatable ailments, and are not dangerous, are available for adoption. We reserve the right to delete or hide from public view any submissions, posts or messages which contain:

Here's some Saturday Morning Cheer! Introducing Hayes, a neutered Pit Bull Terrier mix estimated to be 1-3 years old. Hayes came into our care as a stray, so we do not have a history on him with children, other dogs or cats, but he does seem interested in meeting other dogs. Hayes is calm, friendly, has good leash manners, is house trained and seems to be one of those dogs that can be taken anywhere and is up for any adventure. He would make a great running or hiking partner, but he also knows how to relax when playtime is over. One of our dog walker volunteers recently took Hayes for a run and he did great! He kept up a steady pace the entire way without pulling or stopping, other than a quick bathroom break. Afterwards he was happy to take his treat and relax. If you are looking for a move-in ready dog who will fit seamlessly into your lifestyle, Hayes may be a perfect fit.

Join us in congratulating Dana as we celebrate her as the Volunteer of the Quarter!
Dana began volunteering with the Prince William County Animal Services Bureau in March of 2022 and has contributed 599 hours in that time! Dana contributes in a number of powerful ways assisting our team and the dogs in our care. Dana serves primarily a dog walking volunteer and as a trainer/mentor to new dog walking volunteers. She routinely takes dogs on field trips and occasionally fosters dogs. Dana is kind, conscientious, a team player AND a team builder. The staff and volunteer team at the Prince William County Animal Services Center are lucky to have Dana and appreciate her very much!

Did you know that we collect and distribute cat and dog food to members of the community experiencing a time of need? We rely on donations for this program and thanks to your generosity, last year we were able to distribute over 7,000lbs of food. We hope to grow this program and ensure that no pets in temporary need in our community go hungry. If you need pet food, please stop by the Front Desk at the Animal Services Center during our hours of operation or ask a Volunteer in the lobby. If you would like to donate pet food and support our efforts in providing food to needy pets in our community, please visit our Amazon wish list or just bring in any brand, any size bag of dry cat and/or dog food. Currently the need for dry cat food is outpacing our supply. Thank you for the support of this program!

Maisie found her forever family today. But Christian is here and he's all spruced up waiting to meet you.
Christian’s previous owner has so many wonderful things to say about him. For example, he is good with smaller dogs, he is cuddly, loving, protective, playful, and active. He loves squeaky toys, rope toys and peanut butter treats (we can assure you that he also loves most treats!) We’ve also learned some things about Christian. He loves to play and splash in water, and he is pretty easy to walk on leash. Christian has been spending time in the volunteer room, and he is enjoying it very much. He loves to play with toys and does a cute little “I’ve got you!” hop each time he approaches his toy. He is also one of those dogs who likes to pick up a toy and greet his person with it when they return. As for using a dog bed – he is convinced that only his back end will fit on the bed (even though it is plenty big) He likes to look out the window and when he stands on his hind legs, he is TALL!! Christian can be whiney at times when his person or somebody that he really likes leaves the room, but he settles fairly quickly and just goes back to his nap or toy.

Maisie is putting on the green today, hoping it brings her good luck in finding her forever home today. This adorable 3-year-old pup is a puddle of love and biggest snuggle bug there ever was! It's easy to mistake her bounciness in the kennel environment as wild energy, but we promise she just does it because she REALLY wants to meet you. One of our favorite memories with Miss Maisie is when our veterinary team had her out for a routine check-up, she fell asleep in their laps because she was enjoying all the attention she was getting so much. She came into our care as a stray, so we do not know her history living with children, cats, or other dogs. When we've introduced her to dogs here, she's been friendly and relaxed. If you're looking for a lovable, loyal companion, Maisie would LOVE to meet you!

Last week we introduced you that magical beast Christian and we just can’t believe that nobody’s come to visit him since then. Since we last bragged, his list of accomplishments has gotten even longer. First, he’s lost 30lbs!! Not really, we just reported his weight incorrectly in the last message 😳 . Mr. Christian is currently a solid and much more manageable 93lbs. Second, we are especially excited for Christian’s work with the Ding Ding Bell (yes that is an industry term 😊) We introduced the bell to him on Tuesday and by Wednesday morning he was touching it in multiple locations. Sitting, in a down, and having to jump up to get it. That is a BIG deal and speaks volumes to his engagement, willingness to work, and eagerness to please. Christian is fun, funny, and not bad to look at. We hope you’ll stop by to see him today!
Psst…check out his Ding Ding videos below

Meet Chanel -
Chanel is a sweet girl and on her way to becoming a fairly slender girl. She has been spending some time in foster care and her foster mom is a walker!! Chanel has been a great walking buddy and she's looking and feeling better than ever. Chanel is a friendly and easy dog who loves her family first and foremost. She is house trained and crate trained (but doesn't need a crate) and really easy to live with. If you're looking for a dog who is in "move-in condition", Chanel might be the one!

Chanel is currently in a foster home. For more information or to schedule a meet up, please contact [email protected]
