Today, we share a different kind of success story—one of resilience, bravery, and love.

Hank (we have no image to share of Hank), a courageous canine, along with his family, faced illness with hope. Thanks to the heroic act of Nikita, a blood donor, Hank received a life-saving emergency transfusion and surgery in the hope of extending his life in the face of horrific illness diagnosis.

Sadly, Hank’s illness was too great to overcome, and he passed within weeks of his surgery.

Nikita's selfless gift not only gave Hank's family precious moments together with him but also comfort during a difficult time. The family was able to say their goodbyes and cherish their final moments together.

Though Hank's time was short, his legacy lives on, reminding us of the importance of blood donation in veterinary medicine. We honor Nikita, whose generosity and compassion continues to make a difference in the lives of canines and the families who love them. 🐾

Meet Our February: Save of the Month
Donor: Awesome | Recipient: Chloe

Awesome, of N. Virginia, is a long-time donor with the NAVBB, he became a donor in 2022. He is an avid runner who loves the thrill of the chase. He has saved countless lives thanks to his regular monthly donation.

Chloe is a Boxer with an autoimmune condition (IMHA) that attacks her blood. She receives regular transfusions from her veterinary team to help her stay healthy and active. This last transfusion was especially successful with her team saying that she bounced back to her normal self very quickly!

Thanks to our long-time donors like Awesome, sick and chronically ill pups across the nation are able to have fulfilling lives with their families.

Meet Our January: Save of the Month
Donor: Bravo | Recipient: Kilo

Kilo, of Florida, is an 8-year-old Pitbull who has been diagnosed with the tick-borne illness, Babesia. His veterinary medical team is helping him through the many complications of the illness including the need for regular blood transfusions to keep him well. Without regular donations from canine donors like Bravo, Kilo would be unable to live a happy life with his family.

Bravo, of N. Virginia, is a long-time donor with the NAVBB, 3 years and counting. He enjoys the love and treats, especially the Milk Bones, he gets for being a good boy at his donations. His mom actively advocates for blood donation in her community. Without people like her and her pup Bravo, we wouldn’t be able to save the lives of sick pups like Kilo.

Thanks to our long-time donors like Bravo, sick and chronically ill pups across the nation are able to live healthy active lives.
