The Riderless Horse: one of the oldest and most moving military traditions in a full honor funeral is the riderless, caparisoned horse. The horse is led behind the caisson wearing an empty saddle with the rider’s boots reversed in the stirrups, indicating the warrior will never ride again.

Let’s all join in this Memorial Day weekend to remember the heroes we have lost and the families they leave behind.

Happy National Day of the Horse! It just so happens that it is quite a beautiful day outside so, get out and ride your horse (or dress him like a reindeer). Whatever you do to bond with your hooved beast, make it special because today we honor their willingness to be our constants, their presence in our lives and the fact that on most days they actually don't buck us off. (Unless you own a fire breathing dragon in which case it is not National Fire Breathing Dragon Day) 🤣

Shout out to my amazing daughter :) Pictured here with: Timeless Breathless Desires (owned by Lynn Gulledge of Timeless Miniatures) this pic was taken at AMHA Eastern Regional Championships in Ohio where this team placed Reserve Champion in Youth Versatility and Reserve Champion in Youth Classic Pleasure Driving. They then went on to compete at the AMHA World Championship Show in Texas and placed 4th in Youth Pleasure Driving and 7th in Youth Stock Mares.

4-H'er Spotlight of the Day: Emileigh Mills. Emileigh is a member of our Lucky Bits and Spurs Horse Club. She has been in 4-H for 7 years and participated in a variety of contests and activities. She participates in mini horse cart driving and attended the American Miniature Horse Association Championship Horse Show in Fort Worth, TX last year! Emileigh spent this year fine tuning her horse in preparation for the reopening of events next year.
