This is fantastic news for all of us who help animals, especially Bullies. No dog should be singled out and euthanized just for being a specific breed. Thanks to everyone who wrote in, signed petitions, voted. 💚

Wow. We… we actually did it. 💜

We can’t even believe this. This is EVERYTHING.

After 27 long years, Prince George’s County has officially lifted the breed ban. The County Council passed CB-097, a historic and comprehensive overhaul of the animal control code - championed by Chair Edward Burroughs III and shaped by years of collaboration between residents, advocates, and community leaders.

As the Prince George’s Pet Unity Project, we are deeply proud to have led this effort. For years, we’ve listened to residents, uplifted community stories, partnered with volunteers and local leaders, and pushed for fair, effective, evidence-based laws that keep families together and make our neighborhoods safer.

CB-097 strengthens leash laws, increases accountability for dangerous dogs, updates outdated definitions, improves public safety, and launches a pilot foster/adoption program for the dogs who were once banned. It is a modern, compassionate, community-centered path forward.

To Chair Burroughs and the County Council members who believed in safe, fair, effective policy - thank you.

To our volunteers, supporters, and every resident who showed up, spoke up, or stood with us - this victory is ours.

Today, Prince George’s County made history.

Now, we celebrate. Tomorrow… back to work. (Okay, maybe a few days of celebration)
And together, we’ll keep building a safer, fairer, more unified community for people and their pets

Urgent: City of Manassas Animal Control and Shelter Pet Food Pantry Needs Your Help!

Our pantry is running dangerously low, and we urgently need dog and cat food donations to help families keep their pets at home instead of surrendering them. We take both dry and canned food.

The pantry supports all of Prince William, not just Manassas City residents. These food donations go directly to our public pet food pantry. Every donation makes a huge difference.

The shelter itself can also use paper towels, disinfectant wipes, bleach, and liquid laundry detergent.

If you can donate, please drop items off at the shelter. Sharing this post helps too.

Thrilled to be the recipient of the second annual pet supply Drive. It’s a wonderful way to help our community, especially now when so many are in need. And we are honored as it is a tribute to our mascot and muse, Byrdie.

RECALL ALERT - Raw Bistro Pet Fare is voluntarily recalling two product sizes of its frozen beef dog food because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected lot was distributed direct to consumer and to select distributors between September 1 and September 17, 2025 in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota. The products are sold frozen in sealed packaging.
