Non soy non gmo duck eggs from happy backyard ducks

An update on Lil Dude, my wild black bellied duckling. He’s as big as the chicks now and is doing well.

07/03/2020

It’s been busy here at the farm. We got 20 baby chicks 3 weeks ago. They’re growing fast!
Today a neighbor brought me a tiny duckling she found in her yard while mowing. It is a wild duck, most likely a black bellied whistling duck. He may be tiny, but he‘s mighty.

Did you enjoy the rain we had this past weekend? The snails came out in droves and the ducks love them!

03/15/2020

I’ve got plenty of duck eggs. $8 per dozen. Pm to arrange pickup.

12/21/2019

Yard to market co-op will be on hiatus from the farmers market for the next couple of months. If you need duck eggs, please contact me directly to arrange pickup at the farm. 🦆🥚🍳

Yard to Market Co-op

Meet one of our members Linda Colonna. She brings chicken and duck eggs to the farm stand, the first Saturday of each month. Come out and grab a dozen before they're gone!

12/18/2018

Meet the newest members of my flock. A huge thank you to Germaine at Munkebo Farms for these lovely ladies! 🥰

12/15/2018

There will be duck and chicken eggs tomorrow at the Yard to Market Co-op farmstand at Sunset Valley SFC Farmer's Market. Be sure to get there early before we sell out!

On this national day of mourning for our 41st president, I am also in mourning for some losses to our flock. 9 ducks and 5 chickens so far, and injuries to the few that are left. Dogs will kill poultry for sport-you can’t underestimate them in comparison to coyotes and other predators. If anyone knows of a donkey or livestock guardian dog that needs a home, hook me up!

11/14/2018

The chickens are nestled, all snug in their bed. Do you ever use a heat lamp in your coop? Why or why not?

Duckie is getting some spa time today.

Green Corn Project

Get your tickets for the festival! This is the major fundraiser for a great organization that helps build organic gardens all around Austin. The weather forecast is looking good too!

10 days to the festival!! We are ridiculously excited about our lineup. As Green Corn Project's only planned fundraising event each year – our talented community of food/drink artisans really help us go all out.

We know the weather has been…a challenge lately, to say the least, and we hope everyone out there is able to remain safe and dry. We've had an eye on the forecast, and we’re pretty happy to report that things are looking *brighter* in our near future. The 28th is foretasted to be low 70’s and sunny! Advance tickets are still available online – we'll see you at Boggy Creek Farm!

I’ll have pears, eggs and basil at the farmers market this weekend. Anyone have a good recipe for pear preserves or lemon basil?

05/05/2018

Time to let the ducks out!

"FREE" eggs cost HOW MUCH?

Raising poultry and producing homegrown eggs is definitely a labor of love. https://youtu.be/UBv1UaLH8as

The real cost of homegrown, "free" eggs in my suburban context. I am a podcaster who is starting to put videos out on YouTube. While I have made hundreds of ...

I haven't posted in a while. Sadly, we lost half of our flock due to coyotes a few weeks ago. My remaining girls are doing well and their yolks show it! It's unfortunate that we sometimes have to deal with predators, but free ranging birds are happier and healthier. The picture below shows a large chicken egg on top vs one of my duck eggs on the bottom. The chicken is in a small pen, does not have access to a yard full of greens, and it is fed conventional feed. My girls have soy free non gmo feed with vitamin supplements, as well as being free range during the day. I can certainly taste the difference, how about you?

03/04/2017

Tomorrow you can get your duck eggs at either Sunset Valley Farmer's market or the Austin Organic Gardeners plant sale at Zilker Botanical gardens. I will also be selling some delicious lemon curd at the plant sale. There will be several other local vendors as well as lots of seedlings just in time for your spring garden. Stop by and say hi!

01/29/2017

If you weren't able to make it out to the farmer's market this weekend, you can still get your eggs out at the farm. Email ScissortailMicrofarms @ gmail.com or call 512-DUQEGGS to arrange pickup. We still have plenty of eggs!

01/21/2017

Tomorrow should be a lovely day at the farmer's market. Come get your eggs at the Yard to Market co-op booth at the Sunset Valley SFC market. We will be there from 9 to 1.

Recipe: Korean-Style Steamed Eggs — Recipes from The Kitchn

I made these for breakfast today. If you use a small porcelain bowl like the ones you get served soup in at Chinese restaurants, I think you will get better results. Be careful not to overcook it and you will have velvety duck egg deliciousness. http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-korean-style-steamed-egg-gyeran-jjimrecipes-167222

You've had eggs boiled, fried, poached, and scrambled ... but how about steamed? Silky, savory Asian-style steamed eggs are a real treat at any meal. Different variations exist in China, Japan, and Korea, and today I'll share one method for making Korean-style steamed eggs, called gyeran jjim.

01/14/2017

My ladies have not slowed down. If you missed us today, you can come get your eggs at the Yard to Market Co-op at Hope Farmer's Market tomorrow or contact me to come pick them up at the farm.

01/08/2017

It got a little cold here, but the ducks have been out enjoying the sunshine. Thank you to all my customers who braved the cold weather and supported us at the farmers markets this weekend. Yard to Market Co-op

Brrr, it's freezing outside! Be sure to mind your P's-pets, plants, and pipes. Good thing the ducks have their waterproof down jackets on-they don't seem to mind it at all.
