My name is Tracy Longoria. My deep love and passion for dogs has lead me down a life long road of teaching dogs and their owners how to live happily together for the past 25 years. Early on I attended CT K-9’s Dog training and Dog Psychology courses and graduated top of my class as a professional dog trainer in 1992.
Shortly after I started my own business teaching private 1 on 1 sessions and assisting owners with their hard to handle, sometimes very aggressive canines. I then moved on to training agility, personal protection, police k-9’s and was a member of a CT based SAR team with my partner Austin, an Australian Shepherd. I did this for years until I then started teaching group classes to the public on how to have a well- behaved dog that you could take anywhere. I found that I enjoyed this much more because I could reach a greater number of people at one time. I have also have found that classes where much more than educational they where a lot of fun. Dogs learn much faster when enjoying themselves as do people.
In my classes I try to instill patience, understanding, and control into each of my students while at the same time having fun. Dogs can and should learn from praise and repetition and not from food. I also believe that a dog should work for it’s owner out of love and respect for that in return and not for a bribe or a treat. Teaching these classes is by far the most rewarding job I have ever had. It’s a wonderful thing when you can bring patience, love, and understanding together, and have it last a life time.
I have also worked for a veterinarian as a vet tech so I could learn first hand how to handle various injuries and diseases. Working in this complicity has also taught me about people and the love they have for their pets.
