Last weekend we had an enjoyable show at Old Salem Farm. We had another jumper day and all horses managed to win almost all of their classes.
But what’s important is that the riders and horses had a calm focus on training principles and giving the correct ride with clear mindset .
When that happens, things tend to go well !
So hopefully this post can emphasize the methods and not just results !

However : Arianna Alvarez and AV Equine’s special 4 year old , Diktators Giovanni V won 3 of his classes and was 2nd in the other one.

Mikes Skurkis amhid King Cavalier won thier 1.10 classes

Ludovico PD and Kristen won both the 1.20s

Last week at Old Salem Farm we had a day for the jumpers! Miles Skurkis earned a pair of 2nd in the 1.10m as well as a win in the open 1m.

Ludovico PD and Kristen had fun practicing in the 1.20s pickup a first and 2.

Diktators Giovani V owned by Arianna Alvarez and AV Equine was a good boy as always. This lovely 4 year old was well behaved for the early morning cold for 3rds and a 4 th in the ..65s and 80s.

Catching up on shows! Two weekends ago we had a hunter day at Old Salem Farm.
Natalie Reinhardt and her Chance of a Lifetime had a to shine in the Adult hunter classes, placing well in each!
Olivia Kalmars The Flying Dutchman earned ribbons in all of his competetive low hunter classes as well. This fella is getting ready to compete in the 3’ Greens in 2026 show year. He is also currently available to make him yours and make you happy too!

Last weekend we enjoyed a lovely show at Mystic Valley Hunt Club. The Flying Dutchman , o/b Olivia Kalmar won his three Ct Hunter fence classes on his way to the championship. Barnmate Bronx Balou o/b Sarah Botthoff was right behind him with stellar rounds in the Ct Hunter with Kristen.
Bronx also earned placings the competetive Low Adults with Sarah.

Cahill Chen’s newest special hunter horse Enjorlas toured the warmups and gained valuable young horse mileage ( also some grass eating and in-date patience practice!).

AV Equne LLCs young 4 yo jumper Diktators Giovanni V also had a confidence building practice day taking the jumper /eq course .

As always thank you to Mystic Valley for a fabulous show. The quality of the facility, courses and management makes the events a must go to!

Thank you to all who attended our schooling show this past Sunday! We had great attendance and it was a huge success. Many of our barn members spent hours setting up and decorating the course and it was a great experience for all to jump around !

Both green horses/riders and experienced ones gained benefit from the good footing and smart course design. thankfully, the weather held out for most of the day!

we would like to extend a belated congratulations to our barn member Cara Bailey. As a member of the Uconn equestrian team , Cara won both of her classes and her IHSA show last weekend to be Highpoint rider. Congratulations!

This past weekend, some of our barn members had the privilege of attending a clinic conducted by Gerd Heuschmann. To those who are unfamiliar with him, he is a world-renowned expert in equine biomechanics. He adheres to classical principles that emphasize correct and ethical techniques for physical and mental development.

Especially in young horses, classical principles are crucial in providing a solid foundation for lifelong soundness. These classical techniques are decidedly more deliberate and methodical than many modern approaches, which often prioritize expediency and financial gain over horse welfare.

All stages of horses and experience levels of riders will benefit from emphasizing forwardness, straightness, balance and lightness. Although these adjectives are often pushed to the margins in favor of competition results. The horse trained slowly and correctly will always be successful, and will live a longer more mentally and physically healthy life.

We honorably focus on these values here at Full Circle, in our program with young horses, competition horses and project horses.
