And it continues…

This is out of control. These 4 were found in Boynton valley and brought to the shelter. Unwanted/accidental litters of Puppies are being produced faster than anyone can help. This puts us into the 30s with puppies in our care and I know of probably 8-10 more litters right now. We are losing ground daily. If anyone knows anything about these four, please reach out to us.

We have updated our Amazon wish list with some much-needed puppy pads. We currently have almost 30 puppies in our care that are 10 weeks old or younger so we are going through an excessive amount right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you once again Nashville Humane Association. 12 Dogs/pups left the shelter today and are one step closer to finding their forever homes. Times are tough in our world right now and the stress wears on us all constantly. Small victories like this take a huge weight off of us and gives us a much needed moment to catch our breath even if it’s only for the day.

Please share. We now have this girl at the shelter. If anyone knows this girl or has any info please reach out to us. Messenger is the best way to reach us on the weekends. The officer that responded searched for puppies but didn’t find any.

Someone has to know something about these two. They are young and are definitely siblings. The one on the left was picked up by us on 41 near exit 105. The one on the right was picked up by Manchester City Animal Control at the park near the rec center in town. Reports on both say they were at the two locations probably before daylight which leads us to believe they were dumped.

Roxanne is still waiting on her forever home. It amazes us because sometimes the dogs we think will find homes the quickest end up being overlooked. This girl needs her a family with kids that like to play. She is an absolute sweetheart that loves everyone she meets. She is currently around 7-8 months old and weighs 28lbs. She is being spayed today so she will be available for meet and greets tomorrow.

Finally found our girl! She was several hundred yards back in the woods staying under a tree that had blown over. Let me tell you, carrying a 40lb dog several hundred yards through the woods will show you pretty quick how out of shape you are.

We found her!!

Please be on the lookout for our sweet girl Dot. This girl was doing so much better but today she got spooked and jumped the gate at our door and took off before we could get to her. i think she injured herself jumping the gate because she was limping pretty bad as she entered the woods behind the shelter. We are in the Westwood area of Manchester. If you spot her please reach out to us on messenger because we are constantly monitoring messenger when we are out of the office.

This girl is scared but is absolutely not a threat to anyone or anything.

Please share. Anyone recognize these two? They have been on K Parker rd for about a week. This morning the pup was caught and we picked it up and set a trap for the older of the two whom could possibly be mom. This evening she was successfully caught and is now in our care.

This is how our Monday is going. This is the second dumped group for the day. There is a fourth pup here that has not been caught yet. These were picked up at Beechgrove Towing by the Confederate Cemetery.

Meet Daisy (first 4 photos) and Evee (last 4 photos). These two sisters are pure cuteness and have the personality to match. They are around 12 weeks old. Daisy is a little thing that weighs around 4 lbs. Evee is a little bigger at 7-8 lbs. We think they are Dachshund mixes because of their little short legs. These girls want nothing more than to be around people while they run and play.

Once they are spayed the adoption can be finalized. The adoption fee is $100 which includes worming, flea and tick preventative, distemper/parvo shots, rabies shot, and spay.

This post is for celebration but it’s also to give everyone an idea of what we are facing. This weekend these 13 dogs/puppies and 5 kittens left us headed to northern rescues. This is incredible for us and we are beyond grateful to the rescues that pulled these dogs.

Now the reality we are left with is that all of those animals leaving only opened 1 pen for us. This is beginning to be the “norm”. Large loads of dogs leave and we aren’t even getting back to even here at the shelter. The overpopulation we are facing is getting worse by the day and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. We need your help Coffee County. We can’t fix the overpopulation problem alone but regardless we will continue to fight it.

Margo left us on a foster to adopt today. I’m going to miss my morning hugs from this sweet girl but I’m excited she is getting the chance she deserves.

We are in need of a foster for this super sweet girl. Dot has been staying in our office for a couple weeks and is looking and doing amazing compared to when she arrived. She is on daily vitamins and eye ointment. Dot is super shy and sumissive but absolutely loves everyone.

We are normally closed on the weekends but given our current circumstances we will have the gates open while we take care of the dogs Saturday and Sunday. People may come view our dogs and see what we have available. If you aren’t looking to adopt and are interested in Fostering come see us and we will discuss how that works with you. We will open the gates at 8:00a.m and close them when we are finished cleaning and feeding which normally takes 2-3 hrs.

Bellini sat and watched as her two sisters left the shelter with their new families last week. Today was her day! This happy little girl is headed out on a foster to adopt with a family of her own.

The other two were picked up on Hwy 41 in Hillsboro near the county line and brought to the shelter.

Meet Peaches. She is a very sweet and social little girl that loves nothing more than to be around people for play time or to cuddle. Peaches is believed to be a chihuahua mix possibly chiweenie. She is roughly 12-14 weeks old and weighs around 4lbs.

Peaches is available as foster to adopt until she is old enough to be spayed at which time her adoption can be finalized. Her adoption fee is $100 which includes worming, flea and tick preventative, distemper/parvo shots, rabies shot, and spay. Half the adoption fee must be paid up front with the other half being paid when the adoption is finalized.

Please share. Someone came to the shelter while we were out and left this dog tied up. One of the City Street Dept employees spoke with this person. They said they were from Murfreesboro and picked the dog up in Murfreesboro. They decided to leave the dog tied up here even after being told we couldn’t take a dog from out of our jurisdiction. If anybody has any info about this dog please let us know.

One of the biggest rewards of our job is watching a sick, scared, broken dog that didn’t trust anyone starting to feel better and learning to trust.

Help us wish a bark filled Birthday to our favorite employee! Craig is our director and is our su-pawstar! He has helped so many dogs in our community and we hope he has the paw-fect day. Paws up for a very Happy Birthday!

Our pups have their pools ready and got some new toys donated today!

Still lots of pups here looking for their forever homes.

Apparently overnight Briggs, Duke, and Woodbury decided they were going to sneak out of their own pens and have a slumber party together. They were all in their own pens when we left yesterday and this is the first thing we see pulling in this morning

Update, we have moved all the dogs out of the cold. Thank you all for the offers and help. We greatly appreciate you all. If anything changes we will update at that time. We would love to find a Foster’s for these two. Briggs (on the left) and Rutledge (on the right) are both males and are both around 10months old. These two are just big puppies that are full of love. We currently have 14 dogs that are outside here at the shelter. Briggs and Rutledge are in our old play yard that is a couple hundred yards from the shelter. Our goal is to try and get everyone at least up to the main building and getting these two guys into foster will help get us closer. If you think you can help us get through this cold snap please message us on messenger as the office is closed today.

We had some donations off blankets and toys dropped off earlier. This is all we have heard throughout the whole shelter for the last 30 minutes. Lots of happy dogs.
