Meet Pedestrian! This pint-sized bundle of love is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing in at just 7 lbs.

Pedestrian is a friendly, affectionate boy who thinks everyone he meets deserves a smooch (or five). We are looking for a family who has a lot of energy they are willing to give to this boy! This is a dog who needs to play, play, play!

At bedtime, Pedestrian transforms into a world-class cuddler, happily snuggling up with his humans for the coziest of nights. He's also a big fan of car rides, happily riding shotgun on any adventure you take him on.

This sweet boy is crate trained and working hard on mastering his house training skills—he just needs a little more guidance and patience to perfect his routine. His foster mom says he has been using his pee-pads every day!

He has been in foster care with one of our staff members, who filled us in on all of his little quirks! Things Pedestrian (aka Peddie) loves: His red ball toy, big stuffies like Build-A-Bears, any squeaky toy and burrowing under blankets!

He may be able to share his home with a dog savvy cat or a low key pup, but he also enjoys his own space.

If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and portable best friend, Pedestrian is ready to stroll into your life and steal your heart!

**This dog is NOT at the shelter, he is in a foster home** If you would like to meet Pedestrian, please fill out an application, and make an appointment with our Canine Coordinator.

Apply for him today by clicking here! Dog Adoption Application: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMAS/Dog

Volunteer Appreciation Post: Meet Danielle!
Danielle started with us just a few months ago and already has been a lasting, positive impression on the shelter. Her outstanding attitude, creative ideas, and willingness to help is infectious!

Here we have some photos of Danielle's family. Her rescue dog Rocky, her cats Missy & Fluffy, her snake Lucky & her 2 beautiful kiddos! She has been a huge help with things like; morning cat care, supplying small animals with greens, helping with bake sales (Santa Photo MVP), and helping with our events!

What has been your favorite moment at the shelter?
"There have been so many amazing moments, but one of my favorites was meeting Sunfish. He was such a sweet, playful boy who LOVED his big egg toys. Watching him go crazy with excitement outside or zoom over to see the other shelter dogs on their walks made my heart so happy. I especially loved our time in the enrichment room, where he’d flop down on the doggy bed—or on me—and let me give him all the love. He’d get so relaxed, his back leg would start kicking, and his tongue would just hang out the side of his mouth. It was the cutest thing ever! He was so loved by everyone, and I’m thrilled he found his forever home after receiving so much love, attention, and goodies from the staff and volunteers at the shelter during his extended stay!"

Printer has a PSA: If you use our Pet Food Pantry, this is a friendly reminder to please pick up your food when it is ready for you! We have been noticing most people are not picking up their food on their scheduled pantry days.

This leads to the food being ruined by the weather, which we want to avoid! We want to make sure you & your pets, get the food you asked for. If it is not picked up, it is re-purposed for another family. We hate to see the food go to waste and freeze in this weather. TIA everyone, and stay warm! 🍽🛍

It's Totally Available Tuesday ~ Hi, it's me, Prince! ❤️

Check out this wonderful video my foster dad made for me! It shows all my favorite things! Not to mention how adorable I am! If you have a cozy spot for me to curl up, can give me the time, space and love to help me build up my confidence, then I would love to meet you! I am very smart and a quick learner (especially if it involves peanut butter!). 💙

If you would like more information on me, please email [email protected] and check out my Petfinder profile: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/prince-in-foster-73816841/nh/manchester/friends-of-the-manchester-animal-shelter-nh25/

B***k’s Story
You may be familiar with this handsome guy, B***k. He was at the Tattoo Fundraiser not too long ago, and he has been with us for the last 50 days! He originally came to us in February of 2024, but was returned a few months later.

On Sat Dec 28th, a very nice woman came to meet B***k & fell IN LOVE with him during open hours. This was the first person to really express serious interest in this sweet man. She wanted to do whatever she could to adopt him the following week. She left & went to the pet store to ensure she had everything he would need. B***k was so happy and had an amazing meet and greet with her! It was like a match made in heaven.

On Sun Dec 29th, our Staff member Brittany noticed B***k was acting very off in the morning and rushed him to the ER. He was not responding to voices, lethargic, eyes fogged, breathing heavy. Once he got to the ER, unfortunately they found that B***k had bloat & underwent surgery. These surgeries are always risky, but he did amazing in his surgery! Thanks to our amazing team & the crucial help of VECM, B***k’s life was saved that day.

Now, B***k is doing good and is in his foster home with his potential adopter who he had met with! We are so happy that Corin found him, it was almost like fate given this timeline of events. Here is an update from her that we got just yesterday!

Update on B***ky! :"Hi! B***k has been healing amazingly well. First day he came to me, he rested on his new bed with his stuffed animals, commandeered a few blankets. He gave me my first kiss that day. On the 2nd day, he conquered the couch. He’s been in love with the couch ever since. We snuggle while I work and he rests and he finally felt good enough to play with his new toys today. Below are a few pictures from our first days together, the first of many many more."

What is bloat? Bloat, also known as gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), is a life-threatening condition for dogs that occurs when a dog's stomach fills with gas or fluid and twists.

A lot of dog owners do not know about this risk! Most of the time this is caused by a dog ingesting water or eating too quickly, but there are a variety of things that can cause this. It also can depend on your dog's breed, size & weight.

Once B***k is medically cleared, he will be adopted by his foster mom & we could not be happier. Things have really turned around for this boy, his heart has healed and so have ours!

PSA: We will be closed for Open Hours tomorrow, Sunday 1/5/25. This is due to the fact that today, we have officially adopted out, or have a pending adoption for all of our residential adoptable cats & dogs!

We do still have some dogs, Prince & Oscar, in foster homes waiting for their forever home, so please check them out on our website!

We do also still have small animals available, but no one to show them tomorrow. But don't fret, we will be back on Wednesday if you are interested in any of our animals! TIA!

THE UPDATE YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! WE HAVE A SUNFISH UPDATE! After 213 days in the shelter, Sunfish has been ADOPTED! ❤️🩷🧡

Sunfish now goes by Bear!

"So far, Bear is doing great! He really is such a sweet dog and we're so happy to have him join our family.

We lost our dog back in October and we were absolutely heartbroken. I didn't think I was ready for a new dog but Bear's face kept popping up on my Facebook & I knew I had to meet him and the second he walked into the room, we just fell in love with him. The day we brought him home, he fell asleep on the couch with my son which just melted my heart. He's definitely become part of our family in the short amount of time that we've had him.

Bear's favorite things to do so far are: sleep, play fetch, and play with his new toys. He has a ton of them and loves all of them but his favorites seem to be his stuffed hedgehog and his ball.

As far as snacks goes, he likes these doggy cookies we got him, cheese, and milk bones. His favorite activity is definitely playing fetch and running around in our fenced in yard. He has the zoomies quite often which is hysterical to watch. He is so incredibly fast zooming around outside.

He is absolutely a snuggle buddy! He loves to sleep on blankets, on us, and our love seat. He also loves to sit on us whenever we are on the recliner or the couch. When I'm sitting down, he'll walk over and put his two front legs on me like he's giving me a hug and it's just the cutest thing ever. He likes to always be near us or on us.

Sometimes he barks when people are walking by our house if they're talking but he doesn't seem to notice/care much when dogs walk by. He enjoys helping us do the dishes and laundry by putting his head in the dishwasher while we're trying to load it and putting it in the dryer when we're taking out clean clothes to fold. He also likes to poke his head into the shower when I'm taking a shower (I was pretty sure he was going to jump in one night but he didn't).

He doesn't like when I'm out of his sight- he whines which is why he's usually in the bathroom when I'm in the shower. He hasn't met too many people yet just because of how he reacted to my dad (I'm sure we'll get there with some work and patience) but everyone who has seen his pictures/videos says he's absolutely adorable, which he is. He's very gentle when taking treats and he is so smart! He also loves to ride in the car and so far he has been really good on his leash.

I know it'll take some time for him to fully get used to his new home and environment but so far, he really is doing great. We are so happy we chose to meet him and truly love him so much! Please let everyone at the shelter know he's doing great!! :) Also, let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to update! Thanks so much, Becca 🧡"

We are elated to share this story with you all. The entire staff here has been waiting so patiently for Bear to find his forever home, our hearts are full and our eyes a full of happy tears!
