Sprite has around 10 rides now, with half of those rides being done in the roundpen. She is coming along nicely and is figuring out steering and getting a forward go button while doing so. She sure is a cutie!

4 years ago I picked up a scraggly colored gelding as my draw for the 2021 Oklahoma Extreme Mustang Makeover.

Joey was not supposed to stay. He was supposed to be a makeover horse that got his start and sold in the auction following the makeover. But then he was a hard horse to start, and worse, I fell in love with him and his quirky personality 🤣.

Boy can he buck, but he is a really cool horse with a ton of athletic ability. He has one of the smoothest flying lead changes, is a phenomenal trail horse, and he is sweet as can be. Always the first one to greet people at the gate! Even with his quirks, he is one fun ride.

Brie ✨ is an 11 year old mustang mare from Maverick Medicine, NV. She stands 14 hands tall.

If you’re looking for an athletic mount, flashy pony she may be the one for you! She is not your most confident, but she tries so hard for her rider. If you’re confident, she is willing to try. Since she does lack confidence on her own, she is best suited for someone who can be the confidence she needs.

Brie is walk trot canter, with no major vices. She does have some mare sass, but nothing too crazy. She has a flying lead change, neck reins, leg yields, sidepasses, etc. I really think she could thrive in English disciplines, but goes western as well.

Looking to find her a well fit home, so if you’re interested at all, please message! She is a special mare. Video available upon request.

2 years ago today Raven and I won the open trail boss division of the Smoky Mountain Trail challenge. This stands as one of our biggest accomplishments together.

While Raven has so many strengths, what a lot of people don’t realize is that she is actually a giant chicken. We always excelled at showing in patterns/ eq classes when I was in high school, but trail was always a struggle. I included a photo of us showing in trail at another show for reference 🤣.

We worked really hard on building up Raven’s confidence in trying new obstacles when asked, and after a few years of consecutively showing in the Smoky Mountain, we got a win and did it with Raven being confident in all the obstacles! Still one of my favorite memories with my special horse ā¤ļø

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything on Joey, so it’s about time I share what we are up to.

For those who don’t know, Joey is one of my personal horses. I picked him up back in 2021 for the Oklahoma Extreme Mustang Makeover that I ended up pulling out of due to his quirkiness with bucking. He was one the most challenging mustangs I’ve started undersaddle!

Now Joey is my go to trail horse, and this year I’ve decided to work towards doing some low level eventing with him. We have dappled here and there with jumping and Joey seems to enjoy it, and I had a ton of fun prepping Kookie for the classic last year. So I’m hoping to get him out and about this summer and see if he enjoys it like I think he will!

Sprite had her first long lining session this evening. I’m hoping to be able to have a first ride in the next few weeks. I just want to get her as comfortable possible with all of her equipment and cues on the ground to hopefully have a stress free first ride!

There is no better feeling than being able to canter Raven across our hay field bridlelessšŸ’–

When I first started riding Raven brideless we could only canter in a roundpen. If we tried to canter outside of the roundpen she would just accelerate with no steering. We did have brakes, but we went where she wanted at her speed. Being able to ride her brideless in front of people seemed like an impossible feat.

In 2020, I decided I wanted to really improve our horsemanship together so we went back to the basics in the roundpen. We worked on steering and stopping at all her gaits before we gradually moved to the arena. By November of 2020, we succeeded in showing brideless in a freestyle at a mustang open show. Since, we have now performed at various venues and in front of crowds successfully! It’s hard to believe she used to just run around without any steering šŸ˜… We both have learned so much and I’m grateful to her for everything I’ve accomplished because of her. She’s a special horseā¤ļø

Our brideless journey has come so far! I’m excited to be able to bring her to the Midwest Horse Fair in April!

A few photos from freestyle before the saddle slipped. It was off to a good start, Hope was doing really well in front of the crowd prior to the incident. It’s a bummer we weren’t able to showcase everything that we had planned, but still got a few good photos from itā¤ļø

I may try to put it all together and get a video of it while I have Hope over these next few months. Hope was so good about everything I wanted to include!

Final Mustang Magic update šŸŖ„

Hope and I came out as the champions of the preliminaries earning us a spot in the freestyle finals last night. After our bobbles in compulsory, we were sitting in 8th going into freestyle.

Our freestyle had started off pretty good with minimal issues but unfortunately halfway through my saddle slipped. As soon as the saddle started slipping I jumped off the side. All things considered, Hope handled it really well and apart from being jazzed running around the arena. I was so concerned about her, but thankfully she is all good. No one was hurt and she went back into the arena in hand for the awards and auction.

Now for the awesome part of the night… the auction! I’m so excited to share that Hope was purchased by some friends up in Wisconsin who I used to ride with on drill team. She will be coming back to TN with me for a few additional months of training before heading off to her new home🄰🄰

I’m so grateful to this incredible mare for how much try she had out in the arena for me this weekend. I really wasn’t sure how she was going to handle this atmosphere but she took it all in stride!

Our trail run from this morning. I would have posted sooner, but my reception was terrible at the barns.

I was thrilled with Hope’s performance in this class. There was lots of greenery around and the infamous canter pinwheel. Hope was a little forward but was listening and over all was really on my cues.

I just got scores for this class and we came in 1st! So proud of this special mustang. I will be posting our compulsory run shortly.

01/23/2025

Second class done! I couldn’t have been happier with Hope in this class. Of course there’s always things to nitpick, but she was on my cues nicely for the most part. We did a ton of transition work to make sure she was with me before going in.

We got results from our 1st class which turned out better than I was expecting earning a 9th place. And in our 2nd class we placed 1st!

Tomorrow we start at 9:00 AM with trail, followed by compulsories at 1:00.

01/23/2025

First class is over… this was probably the worst handling class I’ve had šŸ˜…

Hope was going well in the warm up pen but as soon as she saw the first horse go into the arena she was on high alert. Our pattern itself wasn’t that bad, but she was fresh in the roundpen and didn’t want to be caught. Which is not at all like she is at home, she normally catches you. In this environment she was definitely distracted!

Nevertheless, we are on to the next class this afternoon!

Hope and I made it to Fort Worth for the 2025 Mustang MagicšŸŖ„ šŸŖ„šŸŖ„

We checked in at 8:00 AM this morning, got all unpacked and settled in. I did a groundwork session, then Hope had a PEMF session before I rode her this afternoon. She was really good and handled the coliseum better than I was expecting. Of course there weren’t any crowds in the stands or anything, but she was such a good girl.

Tomorrow morning we have our first class at 9:00. Hope and I are 2nd to go in the handling & conditioning class. Then we have maneuvers at 1:00 where we are 1st to gošŸ˜…. I somehow managed to draw going 1-3 in all of my classes this weekend!

Wish us luck! šŸ€ šŸ€ More updates to come on each of our classes.

The only impossible journey is the one you never began ✨

I have exciting news to share that Raven and I will be joining the North Central Liberty Horse Club - ILHA at the Midwest Horse Fair in April! I’m really excited to be able to join them and have the opportunity to help showcase the beauty of liberty work.

One of my biggest goals for this year is to start showing Raven in ILHA with our end goal hopefully being competing at their championship show in October. Raven and I have a lot of fun playing at libety, and we have done some pattern work, but I really want to hone in and see what we can accomplish!

New year, new horse šŸ˜‰

I’ve been keeping this one quiet for a couple of months now, so I think it’s about time for an introduction. This is Sprite 🄤 She’s a now 4 year old mare from Sheepshead, OR who was picked up back on October 1st as a prospect for the 2025 Mustang Champions shows in Las Vegas and Lexington.

Sprite has had an easy start to the domestic life with just some light and easy groundwork. Seeing as she just turned 4, I wanted to keep her work load light and give her plenty of time to grow and work on adjusting to the domestic life.

This mare is the definition of curiosity killed the cat. She is pretty fearful of new things, to the point of literally trembling, but she is at the same time so curious about it she can’t help but check it out. Once she checks it out, she isn’t all that fearful after all but she definitely is an over thinker to start 🤣. I’m really enjoying this mare and I’m excited to get her going undersaddle. Her work loading is picking up this month, and will really kick in after the magic in 2 weeks!

Sprite is going to be available! So keep her in mind if you’re looking for a sweet, curious marešŸ’›šŸ’›
