‼️NEW RESCUE ALERT‼️ We just picked up our new resident from MSU yesterday! Thank you to our friends at BLOOM for making sure he wasn’t just another throwaway. Read his story from Anna below! 👇🏼 (Stay tuned for updates!!)

“We (BLOOM) received a frantic call about Elvis from a past volunteer who was alerted to a property nearby where a man was shooting his pig “today!” because he didn’t have any takers on offering him up for free. Our friend and volunteer called to ask for help saving his life despite having nowhere to put him.

We are full and had no idea where this pig could safely go, but weren’t willing to allow this boy to be killed, so he went and loaded him up to keep him safe while we worked hard to network him.

Elvis’s prior environment was unstable and it appears there are other problems going on at this residence including probable substance abuse, improper housing, and other agency involvement regarding child endangerment.

So basically not a safe or stable environment and we hope for a safe outcome for all involved. 🙏🏻

It’s amazing how sweet and resilient Elvis is, and he’s so lucky to be safe and now a member of the Sasha family.”

Two weeks into the Appeal, and we have reached 25 percent of our goal! This early momentum is encouraging, and it reflects the care and commitment of this community to the animals who call SASHA home.

As you know, the Annual Appeal helps sustain the daily work of the sanctuary by providing food, hay, medical care, medications, winter warmth, and stability for more than 175 rescued animals. It also supports the long-term responsibilities we’ve taken on to protect the land and ensure SASHA’s future.

We are still early in the campaign, and continued support will be essential in the weeks ahead. Every contribution, in any amount, helps us move closer to meeting the needs of our residents and preparing for the year to come.

Meet Moe, one of the 175 plus animals your donations help care for.

Our Annual Appeal is officially underway. The donations we receive at this time each year help to pave our way forward into 2026 with stable funding allowing us to take care of expected AND unexpected needs.

Moe is an example of an unexpected need we encountered during 2025. This sweet man developed a deep chest ulcer that required immediate, intensive care and a long stay at a hospital totaling $10,000 in treatment. Today he is happy and thriving always looking forward to back scratches and treats. It is because of friends like you that we were able to care for him when he needed it most.

As we continue to care for more than 175 rescued animals through winter, we’re asking for your support to help cover rising feed, hay, medical, and seasonal care costs.

In addition, the ownership transfer that took place in November 2024 required securing the property through a land contract, which includes a balloon payment due this December, adding weight to this year's annual appeal.

Every contribution - big or small - helps us provide warmth, nourishment, and daily care for the residents who rely on SASHA.

We truly appreciate all you do to show the care and love you hold for our residents.
