At our shelter, not only do we provide food, water, shelter, and veterinary care, we also give the animal residents affection, social interaction with others of their own species, and a sense of security. The sanctuary currently shelters over 150 animals, each with their own story to tell. Some were dumped and discarded, some were left to die. They have come from unhappy circumstances, often mistreated or neglected, but now have a safe, permanent home at SASHA Farm.

Bob, pictured here, was rescued from an incredibly horrific cruelty case back in 2017, along with three other pig friends and five cow friends.

Sadly, the owner of the farm abandoned his duty to care for these amazing creatures. They were left to starve, trudging through their own f***s, lying in urine, and even walking over the dead bodies that surrounded them throughout the property.

Now, Bob is living happily with his pals at SASHA Farm. He’s able to fully enjoy rainy days like this, along with receiving love, attention, and the proper care he deserves.

Christmas is less than two weeks away! We know the holidays can be chaotic and choosing the perfect gift can be difficult. But, we have a very unique gift for those still on your list!

We have many animal residents that would love an “official” name. ‼️ NEW RESIDENT ALERT ‼️

After various attempts made by our incredibly dedicated staff, this little hen named Chicky, finally made it to her new forever home at SASHA!

Unfortunately, this little lady was the only remaining hen from a flock that was raided by predators. She was roaming close to her home for weeks in the city of Ypsilanti, MI. It was apparent that she was very confused, extremely scared, and trying her best to survive in this unpredictable weather.

The nearby neighbors fed her, provided her water, and tried to catch her, but with no luck. Chicky continued to find refuge in a small bush at the front of an apartment complex, but was very, very quick to evade anyone that tried to catch her. They decided to call us to aid in their efforts.

Luckily, after the many attempts by Darcy and Lisa, the SASHA crew made an extra attempt this morning…and prevailed! Chicky is now resting in a warm coop with food, and water, and she’s already getting lots of attention from staff and volunteers at the sanctuary. We cannot wait to introduce her to her new flock when she’s ready. We’re sure they will love her as much as we do!

The holidays are here and there is no better feeling than the gift of giving!

This Giving Tuesday, you can make a difference in the lives of the SASHA Farm animal residents we know and love. The once abused, neglected, abandoned, and “throwaway” animals are kindly asking for your support today.

Your contributions will help provide shelter, food, medical care, and enrichment for the 150 rescues we are currently caring for. Any amount will aid in our continuous efforts in providing individualized care for our animal friends, especially our elders.

By donating $7, you’ll provide a bale of hay to our goat and sheep residents, giving $15 will feed our birds for a week, $25 could help us purchase cleaning equipment, and $40 provides a round bale of straw for our big pigs and potbelly residents! These few examples show you just how much of an impact you can make with the cost of a gourmet coffee or two. (Link below, or in bio.)

Butterscotch was rescued from a hoarding case back in the early 2010s. She’s around 17 years old, which is amazing! The average age for most goats, even those living in sanctuary, is around 12 years old! It must be all the love she receives (and her sass, haha)!
