When I first went vegan in 2014, I had such a hard time finding a good vegan hot chocolate. We have come so far with vegan options in the more recent years, so perhaps there is something decent out there now. But I wouldn't know because eventually, someone showed me how to make hot cocoa with 3 simple ingredients: Cocoa Powder, Sugar, and Vegan Milk. And I've been enjoying this warm beverage every winter since. Not only have I enjoyed it, but I have mastered it over the years.
THE BEST VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE EVER:
Ingredients
1 cup Creamy Oat Milk (this must be the creamy kind)(it must be exactly 1 cup)
1 tablespoon cocoa or cocao powder
2 tablespoons organic cane sugar
and you will need a hand held milk frother
Directions
In a cup, add the dry ingredients. Heat the milk in a separate, pourable container. Pour about 2-3 tablespoons of the heated milk into the dry mix and mix it so it is a creamy paste with no lumps. Use the frother to whip up the milk in the separate container. Once it's frothy, pour it into the cup and give it just a few soft stirs to mix the milk and powder paste. And that's it. You can add vegan whipped cream, marshmallows, or a top sprinkle of cinnamon if you'd like, but this is so good you won't even need it.
These ingredients are so easy to keep on hand, so you can enjoy this any time through the winter and even in the warmer months if you'd like!
