💙 PLATELET RICH PLASMA INJECTIONS ARE CHANGING THE LIVES OF PETS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES
• Does your pet have mobility issues or are they less active than they once were?
• Are traditional therapies such as NSAIDs and joint supplements just not providing enough relief to get your pet moving again?
We are proud to offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and epidurals to help get your pet moving by reducing pain and inflammation within the joints and spine. At Lakeshore Veterinary Hospital, in conjunction with NSAID and joint supplements, we have been using PRP for patients with joint injuries too old to undergo surgery, as an adjunct therapy with surgery, and for treatment of nonsurgical conditions.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is derived from removing the patient’s red blood cells from blood and isolating platelets. PRP is a form of regenerative medicine that has been used to treat inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis. It may also help with bone regeneration after a bone fracture. Platelets contain substances called growth factors. These growth factors are the basis of PRP therapy and can also activate cells called fibroblasts and endothelial cells to repair wounded and inflamed tissues.
Platelet rich plasma can be injected at a site of injury, such as a cruciate tear, or it can also be made into a platelet-rich fibrin clot (PRF) to use for sustained release of growth factors to promote healing in wounds or dental disease.
