Noah's Bark is committed to finding permanent and happy homes for the unwanted and homeless pets in our community. Noah's Bark is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit pet rescue organization based in the Los Angeles South Bay area. Some dogs come to us as strays, but the majority come from LA area shelters, all of which are HIGH KILL shelters. We often rescue the most broken and pitiful dogs from

these shelters, the ones that would have little to no chance of being adopted by the public. We give these dogs a second chance at a new and loving life. Noah’s Bark was founded in 1997 by Lila Hemmingway. It is now run by Shelly Gomez, a dedicated animal advocate. Shelly was there in the beginning with Lila when the organization was first founded. We rescue and rehome approximately 300 pets each year. Our organization does not have a shelter where all of the rescues are centrally housed. Dedicated volunteers provide foster homes while our rescues await their forever homes. YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING! Miss Chiquita Banana wants to thank you all for your incredible generosity! I mean she is literally smiling! We were able to raise the funds for her much needed eye surgery (and her whole vet bill since the day we rescued her) because of ALL OF YOU! Chiquita will be having her surgery next Tuesday. We had no idea she would be able to have it so soon! We thought it would take a few weeks to raise the money, but you guys came through strong and the money was raised in just 24 hours!!! Like I said, you all are AMAZING! We are so grateful to you and Miss Chiquita Banana wants to thank you all from the bottom of her heart (as do we!)

♦️WARNING LONG POST♦️So Miss Chiquita Banana desperately needs your help! This incredibly sweet girl has had a really rough life. As many of you know, she came to us a little over a month ago. She was so skinny, her coat was horrible, she had the worst case of Giardia (intestinal parasite) we have ever seen (and we have been doing this for over 20 years), she had something going on with her left eye, plus she had a partial intestinal blockage that by some miracle she was able to pass. Then while we were trying to figure out if she needed emergency surgery, we found out she has a heart murmur too. Luckily the IV fluids and many prayers worked so she didn’t need emergency surgery for the blockage.
We cleared up the Giardia, got her to gain a few pounds, and her coat is looking slick and shiny finally! But we still had to figure out how bad the heart murmur was and what in the world was going on with her eye. We focused on her eye while we tried to raise $$ for her $800 echocardiogram. Thanks to you all, we raised $650 of the $800.
We have been treating her for glaucoma believed to be caused by trauma to her eye. She had old corneal scarring and a corneal ulcer (all of this is very painful). She has had eye drops and ointment over the last month to help with the pain and pressure.
We were able to schedule the echocardiogram and she had that yesterday. And while she was there they took a look at her eye.
Long story short…the echo revealed she has a couple of valves that are causing her murmur. It isn’t too bad right now, but at some point later in her life she may require medication, but for now she is doing fine heart wise! Her left eye is another story. It is still painful for her. 🥺 The eye pressure is on the higher side of normal, but her eye is bulging and is very red and weepy. She has very little to no vision in this eye too. So, we have made the hard decision to have her eye removed so she can be pain free. It’s not what we were hoping for but to have her live in pain is not an option. We need to raise $1,300 to cover the cost of her eye removal surgery and all of the testing and medications we have had to do to get to this point, plus that includes the balance of her echocardiogram test as well. She will also be spayed at the same time.
Chiquita is possibly the sweetest dog with the crappiest past we have come across in a long time. She loves people and delights in any amount of attention she receives, even though it is very obvious her eye is painful to her. We are pretty sure she was just a puppy making machine. And when she couldn’t do it anymore they threw her out like last nights garbage.

Chiquita still needs your help. This little gal has had a hard life and been neglected. She needs some medical procedures done, but before we can do those, she needs an echocardiogram to make sure her little heart can handle going under anesthesia. The echocardiogram is over $800. The Chonks are getting big! Moto Moto is in the back and Mei Mei is in the front. She is definitely smaller than her brother but she doesn’t take any of his crap! lol! They are really good puppies and love to play outside! Their favorite thing to do each morning after their potty break and a wrestling session is to lay on the dog bed in the morning sun! And then it’s breakfast time! This pic is because they knew it was time to eat. They were waiting patiently for me to pick them up and take them in! 💙🩷

UPDATE: We have raised $400 towards the $1,500 we are trying to raise for Chiquita. Thank you for your support!

This little lady needs your help. Chiquita is our newest rescue. She is a young gal, but seems to have had a rough life. She was found roaming the streets on her own, no microchip, no one looking for her, no one responding to found dog posts. She’s obviously been bred, has a heart murmur, an injured eye, and had a terrible case of Giardia. Noah’s Bark is getting Chiquita the best care. We are running tests, getting her meds, and giving Chiquita lots of love and attention from her foster mom.

All this comes at a cost, of course. Our little nonprofit can benefit from any financial assistance you can provide to help little Chiquita. All donations are tax-deductible and will go to support Chiquita’s care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no facility or overhead.
