UPDATE: wow, we have had an overwhelming amount of interest in Tulip. I'm doing my best to get back to all these messages. Thanks for your patience!
If you’re a regular at STRIDES, you know how much it pains us to offer Tulip for sale. She’s our queen of the barn and Barbie Dream Horse lookalike. But Tulip needs a new home with a family (no lesson programs, sorry) where she is not in heavy daily work.
Tulip is 13 year old Haflinger, standing about 13.1 hands. She’s a thick 900 pounds so she’s even a great pint sized horse for an adult. She’s been a core horse in our therapy and camp program for years now. We have used her for kids camps, birthday parties, toddlers, and therapeutic lessons for all ages. Tulip can be on the lazier side but will walk, trot, canter, and go over small crossrails without issues. No vices or bad habits, buck, rear, etc. She can be a little quirky (mostly she’s a little nervous and jumpy at the mounting block) but works through it.
She requires a little maintenance (front shoes with pads and Equioxx) to stay comfy but has a lot of years left to enjoy. She’s awesome in an arena and has done well riding on the property. We aren’t a trail barn so we have not trail ridden her. She’s had a couple babies in the past before I owned her. I’m told she knows how to drive a cart – I have not driven her so I cannot confirm.
Good in a stall or turnout. Gets along fine with a mixed herd. She is low in herd ranking. Trailers, leads, ties, great for vet & farrier, bathes, etc without a problem. Good, strong feet. She was just shod last week and had all her fall vet work done. Asking low x,###. PPE welcome at buyer's expense. Official videos to come next week if she doesn't sell by then. Located in Manhattan, IL with delivery available for a fee.
