It's not only the big animals who need us. This week we placed 3 hermit crabs in a forever home that will properly care for them.

Hermit crabs have very specific needs that are often neglected in captivity. Hermit crabs in the wild can love more than 25 years!

THIS is the reliable lesson horse who now needs bute for pain management.
THIS is the incredible jumper whose joints have lost their flexion. THIS is the trail horse who would cross anything but he can't see well anymore.
THIS is the on purpose foal who became unmanagable because she was raised by ignorance.
THIS is the racehorse who won $400,000 but is 7 now.
THIS is the backyard, child's pony who ate too much green grass and foundered.
THIS is the free horse that the kill buyer tricked you into thinking he was giving an excellent home.

THIS is a picture of the product of people who were raised in a disposable society.

People, do NOT consider that an auction is a viable option for re-homing your horses.

This herd of horses, many like what we mentioned above, were in a holding pen headed to unimaginable horror.

Kinder to put them to sleep then to ever let them end up here.

And while it is too late for these, it happens often, and you can make a difference by being committed to your horse through his life and until the end.

It is with a very heavy heart we share the news of the passing of Jeff Ludwig, owner of Ludwigs Feed Store in Lemont, IL. Jeff was kind, gentle, and generous. He was always supportive of our work here at M&M. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. His wife, children, and mom are in our prayers. 💔

Please help the ASPCA! Complete the Equine Industry Survey sponsored by American Horse Publications (AHP).

Horse owners who live in the United States, are 18 years of age and older, and who currently own or manage at least one horse are invited to complete the survey by March 30, 2021.

The survey, which is conducted every three years, will gauge participation trends and management practices in the U.S. equine industry, identify critical issues facing the equine industry as perceived by those who own or manage horses, and better understand issues pertaining to horse health.

Today is one of our favorite memories! In 2018, on Christmas Eve, we received our 501(c)3 nonprofit status. It was an amazing Christmas miracle! To date, thanks to help from volunteers, friends, supporters, and our Board of Directors we have placed around 100 animals!

Eclipse is a gorgeous dainty little mare. She stands tied, she lets you groom and blanket her with no problem and she is perfect for the farrier. She is broke to ride but has some go and can be opinionated so she is not for a beginner. She needs someone who is confident and (riding wise) intermediate skill level or better.
