✨This just in!✨

Our pantry and our hearts are overflowing!! Through the hard work and generous collaboration of many folks, we received this gracious pet food donation for our community pantry! We are so very grateful and want to give recognition to every party.

The beautiful painting pictured below was the brilliant work of local artist Mental And Material Art/ Jacob Sanderson, that features pets hidden in the work. The piece was then sold through TheraPie, LLC and proceeds were matched by Sunflower Pet, Manhattan KS, as well as the brands of food donated (Fromm Family& FirstMate)! Our deepest gratitude to all for making a positive impact locally.❤️

This food is available to the community, offered during our open business hours; Monday-Saturday 9am-6pm & Sunday 1pm-5pm! Stop by or call us with any questions! 😊

🐾 Meet Eden – A Survivor and a Sweetheart 🐾

Eden came to us as a young stray with severe burns on her back, and while we don’t know exactly what caused her injuries, we suspect they were a chemical reaction to flea or tick medication. The journey ahead for Eden was uncertain, but one thing was clear – she was a fighter.

For two months, Eden stayed with us as we treated and healed her wounds. Despite the pain and discomfort, she displayed incredible tolerance during treatments and wound cleanings. It didn’t take long for Eden to win over the hearts of our staff, thanks to her resilience and her goofy, quirky personality.

We’re thrilled to share that Eden’s story has a beautiful ending – she was adopted into a loving home, where she is cherished and even accompanies her owner to work every day! 💖

Eden’s journey is a powerful reminder of the strength of animals and the care they receive in places like our shelter. This , you can help more animals like Eden find the love, care, and second chances they deserve.

🐾 Meet Oliver Queen – AKA Arrow! 🐾

Oliver's journey has certainly been anything but easy, but it’s one with a truly happy ending. Found injured, with a harrowing arrow piercing his body, this brave cat needed a miracle. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, the dedication of compassionate individuals, and the tireless efforts of our skilled veterinary team, Oliver has made an incredible recovery. 💖

Now, Oliver – or "Arrow" as we lovingly call him – is a true testament to resilience. He’s overcome unimaginable odds and is now living his best life as a pampered house cat. With his tail held high and his whiskers intact, he’s ready to take on new adventures in the comfort of his forever home. 🏡

Stories like Oliver’s remind us of the power of community and the difference we can make together. If it weren’t for your support, we may not have been able to save this incredible cat. This , we ask for your continued support so we can help more animals like Oliver find their own happy endings.

🐾 Jason’s Journey – A Story of Patience and Love 🐾

Jason came to us as a senior dog, set in his ways and weighing in at a hefty 90 pounds. At first glance, his age, size, and stubbornness might have made him seem like a tough sell. Unfortunately, he wasn’t the dog that adopters would rush to rescue. For 106 days, Jason patiently waited, hoping that his perfect family would come along. 💔

While he wasn’t the easiest dog to place, he had so much love to give. He was gentle, reserved, and longed for a home where he could be the one and only. Despite his size, Jason adored snuggles and always asked for extra butt scratches from our staff. We knew his forever family was out there – it was just a matter of time and finding the right fit.

And then, everything changed. A family came in, saw beyond his senior status, size, and quirks, and instantly connected with him. They saw the gentle giant he truly was, and just like that, Jason’s wait was over. 🐾

Now, Jason is living his best life in a loving home, surrounded by the comfort and joy he deserves. His golden years are filled with love, and he’s no longer just another dog waiting in a shelter – he’s a beloved family member. 💖

🐾 Meet Peso – A True Miracle! 🐾

When Peso first came to our shelter as a stray, he was only about a year old. During his neuter procedure, a severe heart murmur was discovered, and further testing revealed he had a life-threatening heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Without surgery, his life expectancy would have been limited to just 1–2 years. 💔

The cost for the life-saving surgery was between $3,000–$5,000, but thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise the funds necessary to give Peso a second chance at life. 💖

Today, Peso is living his best life in a loving home, all thanks to your kindness and support. He stayed with us for about three months while we treated him and helped him recover to become the healthy, thriving dog he is today.

This , we’re reminded of how powerful compassion and generosity can be. Thank you for making stories like Peso's possible. Together, we can continue saving lives and giving animals the chance they deserve.

New Stray Alert – Female reported to be found at/near Menards in Manhattan
We share images of stray animals to facilitate their reunion with their owners. To reclaim a pet, owners must provide proof of ownership. Reclaims are possible seven days a week, with walk-ins accepted from 9am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday, & 1pm to 5pm on Sunay. Appointments outside regular hours, including Sundays, can be arranged by coordinating with shelter staff via phone or email. If you believe any of these animals are yours, please contact the shelter at 785-587-2783 or email us at [email protected].
