This parasite egg was found in a cat’s f***l sample — CAN YOU GUESS THE PARASITE? 🐛 🪱 🔬

Answer: An egg from the flea tapeworm Dipylidiym. These are acquired when a cat or dog swallows a flea infected with a tapeworm larvae. Side note: People (usually young children) can be infected when licked hy an infected pet! GROSS 🤮
**Prevent fleas with monthly oral Nexgard or Nexgard Plus (dogs) and Nexgard Combo (cats)**

What’s Your Diagnosis? 🤨

✅ ANSWER: This was a large scrotal abscess that formed the week following his neuter. The abscess was surgically drained, the fluid was sent for culture, and antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications were prescribed. He’s back to his spunky self!

This dog presented for a very painful and enlarged sc***um after being neutered 2 weeks prior. The swelling and redness began one week after the neuter. Hint: He also had a significant fever! 🌡️🩺

This bunny Jasper, a lion head mix, was seen recently for eye discharge and hair loss around his eye. Dr. Hoffman flushed his lacrimal ducts and relieved a lot of pressure and infection.
Side Note: His hair is amazing! 🤩 🐇

Flea pupae can live in the environment (your bed, carpet, floor) for up to 11 months until it senses a warm blooded meal. 😱😮😧 Gross!!🤢

✅ ANSWER: This pup has severe hip dysplasia bilaterally with severe secondary osteoarthritis. He was diagnosed as a puppy with hip dysplasia, over time it has caused severe degenerative joint disease.

This 10 year old larger breed dog presented for a 2 week history of progressive non-weight bearing lameness in the left rear leg and weakness in the right rear leg. 🦴 🩻

DID YOU KNOW…Veterinarians can use a human glucose monitoring system, called Free Style Libre, to monitor diabetic pet’s glucose levels. A sensor is applied (on the neck or back) and streams glucose readings to your smartphone!

‼️DESENSITIZATION TRAINING IN A CLINIC SETTING‼️CALL US AT 785-537-8482 TO SET UP A CONSULTATION! 🙌🏻

Lavender is a good example of how desensitization can help improve both clients and pets experiences when visiting the clinic setting. She was a very nervous at her initial puppy visits, had to be carried in and was very shy. She now walks in on her own, takes treats, and can relax in the exam room. We’re now working on some basic restraint. Way to go Lavender! 🙌🏻👊🏼
