In 1995 I completed a degree and certification in veterinary technology. It was working in the veterinary field that I was first introduced to pet styling. I clearly remember my first job interview at an animal hospital. I could hardly avert my eyes focus on the interview. I had never recognized that grooming dogs is a career! Years passed and my experience as a veterinary technician and budding p
et stylist grew. Residing in Colorado, I opened my first salon in 2003. "The Grateful Dog" was enormously successful from the start and gave me the means to pursue my advanced training. I traveled the country studying grooming with show dog breeders and top stylists. I attended conferences and educational events. I completed the rigorous practical and written examinations required to earn the title, "National Certified Master Groomer". Entering my first grooming competition in gave me a fever for the ring. I've earned multiple "Best in Show" and "Best All-Around Groomer" awards at major international events in places such as Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago. In the position to lead and advance professionalism, I accepted the position of news editor for the Colorado Professional Pet Groomers Association. Ultimately, I completed a term as the association's vice president. I taught seminars and accepted students for specialized training and have personally trained five apprentices who continue impressive grooming careers. In 2012 I had the good fortune to return to Manhattan. It has been an amazing nine years meeting and growing a new grooming community. Manhattan is full of talented and amazing dog devotees. This past year I designed and embarked on the final phase of my career. The Groomer is a small, home based canine salon. I maintain a peaceful happy environment. I prioritize safety and comfort. I deliver beautiful grooms and use only luxury, environmentally friendly product lines. Appointments are limited, individual times, never long drop offs. Personal attention is given to your dog during his or her appointment. Currently I am accepting a limited number of small and medium sized dogs.
