It may still be blustering and cold outside, but some of our favorite furry friends found themselves in warm loving homes this February!
We couldn't be more thrilled for them!

PLEASE READ AND SHARE THE MOST SPECIAL BOY - with some extra special needs! Clive desperately needs a home willing to give him all the care he so deserves.

Clive's journey with us, started almost a year ago when he was found as a stray. We were taken with this boy Day 1! He has the most charming, playful, and loving personality - and this little cleft lip that makes him uniquely adorable.

Soon after coming to us Clive began having seizures, some quite severe. With much trial and error over about 3 months we finally got his seizures under control. He takes 2 medicines, both relatively inexpensive, but he does need yearly bloodwork to make sure there's no ill effects and that his Phenobarbital level (every 6mos) is stable.

Despite having the seizures under control, this resilient guy has had more to contend with. He seems to have some other neurological signs. i.e. We've never met a CLUMSIER cat, and he exhibits occasional f***l incontinence. We don't have more answers for why these things are happening, or the resources to pursue a specialist. Clive doesn't seem to notice that he's not the most coordinated, he just leaps and plays, and keeps cracking us up with his antics!

He's also dealt with chronic upper respiratory infections, but he seems to be doing better with that (not to jinx it)!!!

This December we noticed a mass under his tongue, and had it removed. The cytology revealed nothing alarming so we hoped it was curative... but alas, it returned weeks later! We had it surgically removed again and sent out for a biopsy.
Again nothing nefarious in the results... no scary C word. Fibromucosal polyps was the result, a common oral lesion usually due to trauma or persistent irritation. The regular recurrence we are seeing is not typical.... but neither is Clive! These polyps aren't bothersome to him and he keeps eating and drinking normally, but will need to be monitored.

We know that although... this is A LOT. We also know there is a HUGE heart out there that will love Clive as much as we do.
That's all we want for him.
He's good with other cats, and would love someone to play with. He's unbothered by dogs, and should have no issues with kids in the home.

Please consider loving this boy and opening your home to him - we promise the joy he will bring will be worth all the quirks!

If he's not for you, well please share him with all your cat loving friends!!!

Our Pet of the Week is Kayden. She's a 1-yr old Husky, who's very sweet and friendly! Kayden needs work on training in all forms, but this smart girl just needs some good direction. This includes housetraining. Her history includes typical Husky shenanigans like escaping her yard and going for an adventure - so a secure yard is a must. To find out more about Kayden, go to www.homewardboundmanistee.org. The All Pets Bulletin is brought to you by Little River Casino Resort and of course by the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter. Catch it Tuesday Mornings on Eagle 101.5!

We get so many calls from those needing financial help to spay/neuter their pets and Save A Buddy Fund is an amazing resource for Manistee County. Their Pit Stop program extends to area counties. Read more in their post!

So it doesn't get much funnier than this picture of Ghost we received from his family! Ghost is proudly showing off that he was recently neutered and will never add to the puppy overpopulation problem, especially unwanted pitbull puppies (which sadly is on the rise again). Ghost wants all of his fellow four-legged male friends to know his neuter surgery was no big deal, he got extra attention and extras treats! Thank you so much to Ghost's family for this adorable picture, we are still laughing! Ghost could be the Poster Dog for the ā€œPit Stop Programā€!!

Just a reminder...our ā€œPit Stop Programā€ is for pit bulls and pit mixes and is offered in Manistee, Lake, Osceola and Wexford Counties.

Our ā€œK9-SNAPā€ (Canine Spay Neuter Assistance Program) is currently offered in Manistee County only (due to limited funding) and is for breeds other than pits and pit mixes.

Apply for a voucher on our website: www.saveabuddyfund.org or give us a call to apply over the phone 231-463-7425. And as always, PLEASE call us if you are in need of financial assistance beyond what we offer for our basic vouchers, we will do what we can to helpšŸ™‚šŸ™‚!! Please consider sharing our post and get the word out, there are still so many pet owners who are not aware that there is financial help for getting their dogs & puppies fixed!

Meet Handsome boy Hans! This guy is 8yrs young, and so sweet. He was well loved in his previous home, but unfortunately Hans who had always been a little anxious, was really stressed out as his parent's baby grew into a toddler. The noise and chaos that a little human can bring was too much for him, and brought out some resource guarding behaviors. Hans is quite nervous here, but so ready for love - he leans in with his whole body to everyone he meets. He should do great in a new, quieter home with no young children. He lived with a cat with no issues, he also previously lived with dogs - in the right home we believe he has potential with other dogs.

To find out more about Hans, go to www.homewardboundmanistee.org. The All Pets Bulletin is brought to you by Little River Casino Resort and of course by the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter. Catch it Tuesday Mornings on Eagle 101.5!

We have the sweetest boy to highlight today! Ranger is an 8yr old cattle dog who is loving everyone he meets. He seems to be a bit of a couch potato despite his breed, and does good on walks. He was around other small dogs previously with no concerns, and seems fine with others here. Outside of a loving home, the main thing this boy needs is an accountability partner for his weight loss journey. He needs to lose at least 20 # but likely more! Regular walks and a strict diet is going to help Ranger live his best life possible!

To find out more about Ranger, go to www.homewardboundmanistee.org. The All Pets Bulletin is brought to you by Little River Casino Resort and of course by the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter . Catch it Tuesday Mornings on Eagle 101.5!

Little Miss Valentina is one of our litter or 10 Valentineā€™s pups! Unfortunately she came to us with a leg that had been broken for weeks. After several opinions it was determined that amputation was the best option for her. Surgery was performed on Friday and sheā€™s recovering like a rockstar. The video is only hours after surgery!!! This resilient lady is luckily recovering in a wonderful foster home.

We are accepting applications for her forever home until she is ready to go!
