Oh sweet Sally! I was sitting with her after we closed today and everyone was gone, because i needed a pick me up and I knew she’d be ready to provide it. I call this a Sally “sighting” because most adopters who come and go during open hours will never meet her. She’ll be tucked under a couple blankets, hiding out from the chaos - if we coax her out to meet someone like I did today she’ll quickly find a corner. She’s a timid girl at first and unfortunately that’s earned her the title of our longest resident. When things stop being hectic and you’ve earned her trust, the love she has for you is unending and so sweet and you learn she wants attention as much as our most outgoing cats. She just needs her chance, even if I’ll have to find my end of day cuddle session from someone new.

From cuddles, to head butts, to zoomies! Let's reintroduce LUKE!
Luke couldn't be more handsome, but unfortunately he's been with us over a year. He's wonderful in so many ways, primarily his affinity for butt scratches, and his yard zoomies! This boy dreams of a fenced yard, it's his favorite part of his day here. With us he has been reactive with other cats and dogs, so we are looking for a home where he's the only pet. Once he connects with you, he'll give you all his love!
NEW PLAYMATE ALERT! There couldn’t be a more perfect way to show you the “true” Jake (Buff Orange)… for those that don’t know he’s our longest cat resident, with us most of his three years of life! Why? Well he’s just so timid with new folks that he continues to be overlooked. However, as new cats come and go from our adult cat room he’s always finding new playmates that bring him out of his shell and reminds us how great he will do when he finally finds his forever home. He’s such a lover once he knows you and has so much to give. Featuring Spazz (also a total gem!), Jake’s current BFF. 😻😽

Happy tears ALL around! After over a year with us, Dozer found a home, and we couldn't be more thrilled. It took the right person to look past his age, and see the personality this sweet boy has - something we all knew here, and none more so than Cam. Watch her say goodbye to the wildest 11yr old pup we've ever know, and remember that senior dogs deserve their perfect home too! We've been so thrilled this week to adopt out 4 dogs over the age of 6. Thank you for all the families opening their homes and hearts, from all of us - we are so thankful and excited for them!!!! #seniordogsrock
Things have been so crazy we haven’t been able to update our adoptable album with new kittens! But rest assured we have MANY adorable kittens ready for homes, and kitten mischief is bound to ensue. Come meet them today until 3!
Meet Clyde – a patient, very resilient and SO loving boy. He recently came to us under dire circumstances having sustained a gunshot wound. Due to the serious nature of the wound, he required emergency hospital care in Traverse City. Because of his sweet personality, strong sense of survival and critical need for help, we made the quick decision to give him the chance he needed to survive. Due to the extent of the injury, it required amputation of his left rear leg. He was released from the hospital 3 days later and a week from that, his morning walks have turned into jogs, because this guy is ready to go!
Currently we are caring for 20 dogs and 97 cats. Clyde’s vet care was much more than the original estimate provided to us, and has taken an unexpected toll on our resources. We are asking for donations to help with his medical care. Because of the generosity shown by our community time and time again, we are hoping that you will once again help us out. Because of you, we are able to provide for the everyday care of these wonderful shelter animals especially when they need it the most. Please consider a special donation to our medical fund to help with Clyde’s care and others that may require special medical attention in our care.

This sweet mama, Foxie came to us last week very pregnant - only a baby herself at 10mos old and an incredible sweetheart. Monday she gave birth to 4 little adorable nuggets. She's doing so well with them, it's adorable to watch - and we want to share a little of them with you!
