Update: He tentatively a home! We will update if anything changes!
We have an absolutely stunning 13 month old male looking for a new Family!
Below is a statement from his current owner:
“Mae Eye of the Tiger Jasper is a 13 month old male Boerboel puppy with a big, loving personality. He is the most intelligent and goofy dog I’ve ever encountered. He loves walks, playing fetch, car rides where he can stick his head out the window, and always has a toy in his mouth when he’s inside. He has been obedience trained from the age of 4 months. He understands basic obedience commands such as heel, sit, down, and place (go to his bed). He can do inside and outside turns and can reverse his steps if needed in a crowded space. Jasper needs someone who understands and is experienced with the boerboel breed. He needs someone who he can be confident in and can communicate clearly to him. Someone who can create a boundary and be fair with their expectations of him. He is e-collar trained but could use more expert e-collar training. He had a bad experience with a pinch collar, however, does exceptionally well on a slip lead so there is really no need for a pinch collar. He is very careful of who he feels comfortable around so I would suggest an adult family with no children. He would do better with a lot of space. He is a very functional boerboel and takes his job seriously, however, he is the biggest cuddle bug I’ve ever encountered….literally. Due to changing life circumstances, Jasper needs an immediate rehome. He is currently co-owned by Danielle Vonau and John Graham and is in the Mae boerboel breeding program. I believe in this pup and I’m devastated and heartbroken that I have to give up my best buddy even though I know this is the best thing for him.”
We also had a professional trainer do an evaluation on him and this is their statement:
“Jasper is a well trained Boerboel with exceptional obedience. He’s a big boy with a big personality that needs someone who understands the needs of an adolescent guardian dog. Best suited to someone with training experience. Does best with a slip lead, ecollar combo. Jasper is eager to please but also needs a firm hand in establishing good boundaries. Jasper needs to know where he fits in the family so a potential owner would need to make sure there is no confusion there. Jasper enjoys working so anyone getting him would need to be willing to work his mind. He does well in a crate. Probably best to go to a home without small children.”
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a young well trained male! Jasper is a big boy, he’s almost 30” at the withers, 27” neck.
