Our organization is a low kill/no kill shelter and we NEVER euthanize animals to make room for additional animals. The shelter is not able to accept visibly sick or injured animals and we cannot pick up stray animals. The shelter cannot accept feral or wild animals. We define "feral" as cats and dogs that cannot be held without trying to scratch, bite or get away. If you would like to volunteer, we'd love to have you! Contact us via email or give us a call.

We are excited to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for their incredible "Empty the Shelters" event, which will take place from July 5 to July 19!
During this limited-time event, adoption fees for both dogs and cats will be reduced, making it easier for more pets to find loving homes. Whether you're looking for an upbeat or laid-back canine or a cuddly kitten, this is a great time to meet your new best friend!
An adoption application must still be completed and can be found at www.asecondchanceanimalshelter.com. Come visit. Our shelter animals would love to meet you.

📢 It’s back! BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters®—the nation’s largest funded adoption event—returns this summer, July 5–19, 2025! 🐾

Summer is one of the most challenging times for shelters. With rising intakes, staff shortages, and overcrowding, pets urgently need homes—and you can help. 💙

In partnership with 300+ shelters across 40 states, BISSELL Pet Foundation is sponsoring adoption fees of $70 or less to help more families bring home fully vetted pets.

Since 2016, over 324,000 pets have found love through Empty the Shelters. Will you help us save even more this summer?

Hello there, I'm KC. I'm a friendly older fella of about 6 years with a heart full of sweetness. I value my independence, but I still love the company of humans, especially when they show me affection. Just know, there’s no need to pick me up. I prefer to keep my paws on the ground, thank you very much. But I do enjoy a good petting session. I can be a bit picky about other cats. I guess you could say I'm cat-selective. I promise to bring a unique blend of independence and affection into your life, all wrapped up in a bundle of feline charm. I’m neutered, UTD on all of my vaccinations and ready to start a new chapter in my life.

What's it all about Alphieeeee????? (Okay, the song spells it "Alfie", just go with it 😄)

He checks off all of the boxes: Handsome ☑️ Playful ☑️ Super friendly ☑️
So why is he still here?? He even gets along with other dogs AND is heartworm negative ☑️☑️ Alphie is a 6-year-old bulldog mix with the cutest ears, who, like many others here, has been at the shelter way too long (4 years, in fact), patiently waiting to be adopted.
