Stetson says “don’t worry mom, I’ll put that pesky chick back where he belongs” 🤣 Him and his brother are little herding machines🫡
I’ve always said that Bronc has all the potential of a service dog, so I decided to put my money where my mouth is and give it a shot. So now life can be a little bit easier knowing I’ve got him to get up on the bathroom sink and grab my pills for me😉
Right now Bronc and River feel the exact same way I’ve felt after a few wild nights 🤪😵💫
✅OFA x-rays submitted!
Now we wait for results…crossing our fingers, toes, and paws for passing scores 🐾
After all the energy I put into these dogs, the least they could do is fetch the remote for me when I’m feeling lazy🤣🤣
Getting our zoomies out before the storm hits ⛈
Cooper is loving his stay here! And he’s been such a good boy, it makes me miss having a lab in the house so much more❤️
4 stinky aussies, free to good homes!🤣❤️
My crew is running Scout and Jarvis ragged, but I think they’re enjoying all the adventures 🤣
I just want to be as happy as Bronc is 🤣
Practicing some impulse control with our friend Willow today!
Bronc getting in some practice on controlling the front end of a cow 🐮
This guy picked up on the cue to turn a head in about 5 seconds, and boy was I impressed. He is definitely a completely different dog when it’s time to work. Goofy goober by day, serious stock dog by night🤣
Practicing emergency downs in the wind and rain..is this why us dog people are called crazy?🤪
She sure is coming along good!
Did you know physical exercise isn’t the only way to tire out your dog? Making your dog exercise their mind will actually tire them out faster!
Happy Easter from the pups! 🐣 🐇
Sometimes training a trick dog is really fun, and sometimes you end up with a black eye 🤪
Everyone has that one dog.
The dog they didn’t know they needed, the dog who makes them a better person.
Today isnt a special day, it’s not Colts birthday or gotcha day but this definitely made me feel some sort of way.
I think people take time with their dogs for granted, it’s not their fault it just happens. I’m guilty of it too. Looking back on these pictures I wish I had just stood there for a couple minutes, a couple seconds even, and just took it all in. I wish I had lived in the moment a little more. Watched him for a little bit longer. If we’re lucky we get 15 years with our dogs, that’s not much considering the average person lives for 79 years. When I think about my future I see Colt in it, I picture myself being old as dirt wobbling out to take care of my chickens with colt following next to me. Then it hits me, thats not going to happen. He’s not going to be around forever. That’s when I remember to take just a few moments out of my day to watch him, it doesn’t matter what he’s doing. I’ll watch him sleep, eat, play, do a trick, roll in the grass, make all his funny noises, sit on the porch. I’ll just watch anything. And be grateful. Grateful for the privilege to own him. People tell me all the time how lucky my dogs are to have an owner like me, but I think it’s the other way around. I’m so lucky to have dogs like mine. Go pet your dog and tell them you love them, they won’t understand but you do. And you’ll appreciate the feeling.
Look at all those check ins🥰
Having dogs who actually pay attention to you on walks makes the whole process so much easier!
Are you interested in getting your dog loose leash walking? Pm me so I can get you started! Hopefully you don’t mind touching your dogs food😉
Virtual training does work!
Yeah this put me in my feels😭
This is Emily, a virtual client who lives in Utica. She adopted Leo when he was 4 months old and his behavioral issues started to rise soon after. They were struggling with fear reactivity, nipping, over arousal and more. It took a huge toll on their relationship and she wanted help with their bond along with everything else.
I asked her yesterday how she felt their relationship was doing and this is a part of her response. I think it made me so emotional because I’ve been there. I know how it feels to hate being around your dog. I used to hold grudges against colt because of things he would do. When it wasn’t his fault, it was mine for not teaching him the right thing to do. They day my relationship with him changed was the day I realized two things.
1) your dog is not giving you a hard time, he is having a hard time
2) you can’t fight genetics, but you can do your best to manage them
Whether you have a rescue, a backyard bred dog, or a dog from a reputable breeder, they’re going to do undesirable things. It is YOUR responsibility to teach them how to live in this world. Dogs don’t come hardwired knowing right from wrong. This is Emily and Leo two weeks into training. Yesterday they were able to walk through busy parking lots with no reaction, they even stayed longer than planned because it was going so well. They wouldn’t have made such nice improvement so quickly if she hadn’t changed things in the home environment first. This is why virtual training has such a high success rate. You can’t send your dog to a trainer for a month and expect to get back a perfect dog. You HAVE to put in the work. Until you do some training yourself, your dog won’t reach its fullest potential in your home. I definitely needed this reminder of why I do what I do. It’s such an unmatchable feeling🥰
If you’re considering virtual training for you and your furry friend send me a PM so you can get on the right track🤩
