Our MVS team (including Walter and Playdoh) had the absolute best time at the Central Texas SPCA’s 22nd Annual Barktoberfest in Cedar Park this past weekend. 🐾🦴🐕‍🦺
We were able to meet some new furry friends and enjoy the beautiful weather while being part of a great cause…oh, & Playdoh spent the day trying out his costume options for Halloween. 🎃👻

Pets come in all shapes and sizes, but sometimes size gets a little out of hand. 🙈
We recognize October 9th as National Pet Obesity Awareness Day and remind all pet owners/parents to keep their pets healthy. When your pet starts getting a little plump, we know it’s time for a few things: more walks, less treats/table scraps, and perhaps a visit with your vet to make sure they are still healthy. Here at MVS, we are happy to help along the way! 🐾

This handsome fella is Poe! He is owned by one of our LVT’s, Cassidy. He is a 1 year old Ball Python and is such a docile baby. He likes to spend his days helping mom work or cuddling with her son Ro!

HAVE YOU HEARD?!

MVS is growing... We have officially partnered with a 2nd veterinarian starting THIS week! This is going to be a huge adjustment but we are all SO excited.

Say hello to our newest doctor and team member, Dr. T! She is originally from northwest Indiana near Chicago. She grew up on a hobby farm that instilled within her a love for all kinds of animals and a desire to be a veterinarian.

She attended Butler University for undergraduate and then took a couple years off to work before heading to veterinary school. She is proud to be a 2023 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.

Although Dr. T worked primarily on beef cattle previously in South Dakota, she also helped producers and other clients care for their pets! She enjoys working with all four-legged friends but particularly enjoys cattle, goat, and sheep work.

In her spare time, you can find her trying to wrangle her blue heeler [Pooka], reading, playing volleyball, or enjoying the city with her fiancé!

Let's all give a warm MVS welcome to Dr. Tanzania Menn!!

Allergy season is starting in Austin, and your furry friends might be feeling it too! 🤧🐶🌳 Just like humans, dogs can be prone to environmental allergens in the air, which causes itchiness and inflammation, only made worse by them scratching and chewing! The most commonly affected areas are the ears, paws, between their toes, underarms, and groin. They might also experience some hair loss or dermatitis as well. If you notice your dog itching and scratching during certain times of the year, they might be experiencing seasonal allergies! Luckily, we have a few options to treat these allergies! Cytopoint is a popular allergy injection that we use every 6 weeks or as needed to help stop the itching. There are also a few oral medications that Dr. Matthews can prescribe. If you notice your pup is a little more itchy this time of year, it might be time to schedule a check up! Or they could be lucky and enjoy the outdoors like Tank is doing!
