Did you know that less than 10% of the pets that are unchipped will return home each year?

A microchip is a secure, reliable, permanent identification for your pet and the process is simple and affordable. Microchipping your pet can help ensure that if your pet goes missing, they can be identified and find their way back to you.

If your pet is chipped, make sure their information is up to date. To help keep pets close to their loved ones, share this post and remind your friends to !

Althea wants you to know,
“Why is it so important to check your pets for intestinal parasites 🦠annually you may ask?”
Well, Parasites 🦠DO NOT discriminate!
They not only make pets 🐶🐱uncomfortable and irritable, but they can lead to more serious conditions for your pet or have the potential to even be transmitted to family members.
F***l (Stool/ P**p) testing, allows our veterinarians doctors 🥼 to check for several types of intestinal parasites 🦠 and their shedding eggs, unseen to human eyes! 👀 🤓
often times, owners are very suprised 😳when their pets 🐱🐶report with a positive + (fecal/stool)result, but this can be easily addressed with a doctor’s diagnosis and appropriate treatment, and your help.
So, if you haven’t brought in a p**p sample for your pets🐶🐱 annual visit, we encourage you to do so. Please call 📞 with any questions
🫣Here is a story that describes a more severe case of intestinal infection that can occur when left untreated over time🙁

⭐️This is Althea’s 🐱story:
Firstly,
I am happy😃to say “Althea”🐈is a very 🤩happy and 🫶healthy cat these days! who is well loved ❤️by one of our staff members.
Althea 🐱came to us as a young kitten, with a very bad intestinal parasite 🦠infection. This likely was passed from her mother to her, although, parasites 🦠can be passed along in many ways. Having parasites 🦠unfortunately made her very uncomfortable, and as she tried to alleviate her discomfort time and time again, her internal organs pr*****ed outside of her body from the pressure of pushing.😓
Thankfully, Dr. Spagnoletti 🥼was able to do save 🙌🏻Althea through corrective surgery ❤️‍🩹and ultimately she received the treatment 💊she needed to be free👏 of those nasty parasites 🦠

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

Dr. Kayla Blyton and she loves all the attention!
As an important reminder, puppies require a series of pediatric health visits which include vaccinations that help boost their immunity. As they mature, its also recommended to have a stool sample checked for parasites that may be passed on from mother to baby.
Please schedule your puppy appointment online with us at
eastbrookanimalhospital.com or call us with any questions.

It’s that season!!! We have been receiving a number of calls regarding red circular spots or lesions on the belly of dogs. Black Fly bites!! These lesions are very common as spring makes its way into full bloom. They resolve on their own and are generally harmless. People are also sometimes concerned as they look like bullseyes. Dogs and cats do not get the tell tale bullseye mark sometimes seen in humans who have Lyme disease. Rarely are there any serious complications from these pesky bites but feel free to reach out to us if they are uncommonly itchy or seem more swollen than a normal irritation.
