I have been riding competitively for over 20 years. My father, Jay Hasbrouck, strived to get me professional lessons at a young age so that I would be able to advance in barrel racing. I began giving riding lessons and training outside horses since 1997. I also give barrel racing lessons and pole bending lessons. I will provide the horses and the tack or you can bring your own. I charge $50 for gr

oup lessons and $70 for private lessons. All lessons are 45 minutes long. I teach horsmanship along with the saddle time. The student has the opportunity to groom the horse, clean out the hooves and saddle before and after riding. I'm big on safety and having full control of the horse so the first lesson may be spent mostly in the round pen so I can see how well you work with the horse and what you already know. We also host parties here at our facility! We offer hand led horse rides, a small petting zoo and horse painting as options. We also have a nice boarding facility if you’re interested in boarding your horse. If you have any other questions please contact me anytime. 817-946-2180

(Sorry again for the late post)
Today was our last day of horse camp for this summer. Today was also performance day which is my FAVORITE day! We did have a couple minor setbacks today with the train 🚂 blocking the only road in/out BUT in the end, everything worked out and the performance was everything we wanted it to be for both the parents and the kids!
We started off the day doing a couple of quick chores, petting the new foal and bathing the horses and decorating them with paint so they would be ready to show off for their parents during the performance! The campers are always so excited to show off for their parents on the final day! Seeing how happy and excited they all were, is what makes all of our hard work worth it.

Day 3 of our final horse camp session was another success! Today, the campers were able to get out of the arena for a little bit and go on a trail ride during their riding lesson. During their ground lesson, they learned all of the important body parts and the different colors of horses. Each camper unsaddled and hosed down their horse after their ride which felt good to both the horses and the riders lol. Today was GREAT and tomorrow is the special performance for parents! I know the kids are excited to show their parents everything they’ve learned!

Training a barrel horse requires SO much more than repetition. In fact, if we understand how to CAUSE our horses to “crave” the pattern, it requires very little (this is covered in the ‘Start Strong, Finish Fast’ Chapter, Exercise 13 - Get Hooked)!⁣
⁣
However, there’s possibly no place that requires more precise position and timing from horse and human barrel racing athletes both, than the approach to the first barrel.⁣
⁣
Once you’ve perfected your form, it’s helpful to get it REALLY solid so as a team, you can take some pressure off yourself and let muscle memory kick in – that’s where Exercise 17 – Position Perfection from the ‘First Barrel Finesse’ Chapter comes in! When good habits are confirmed, your job as a jockey becomes easier and you can trust your horse to do his part.⁣
⁣
Get the full exercise (and many more) with descriptions and suggestions for first barrel approach adjustments based on varying arena set-ups in '𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘹𝘵 50 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘭 𝘙𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯.'⁣

(Another late post🙃... Camp weeks are busy weeks)
Day 2 of our summer horse camp was a blast! During the riding portion, campers continued to work on learning the barrel, pole and straight barrel patterns and worked on control so we can continue working on going faster! For their ground lesson today, campers learned how to properly saddle, unsaddle, and hose their horses down after the ride. Today was another great day. I can’t believe the week is already half over!
📸- A huge thank you to Hagan for taking and editing the pictures from today! They look amazing!

Even in the rain, horse camp still goes on and we had a great time at Little K Acres. Day 1 of our final camp session for this summer was amazing!
The kids all got a full riding lesson along with a ground lesson learning how to catch and properly tie a quick release knot. They learned some of the daily chores that are a must when owning horses and even got to watch the farrier trim the horses hooves! Overall, it was a great start to the week, we can’t wait for the rest of this camp session!

Sadie had such a great lesson this morning! Happy Fourth of July everyone!!!

🤠Today was the last day of our second camp session!
Today was also the performance day! The parents were invited to come for the last hour of camp so that the riders could showcase everything that they learned during camp. In order to get ready for the performance the kids got to give the horses a bath, brush/braid their manes and tails and decorate them with finger paints and glitter so they would be pretty for their parents. 🤩

✨We still have availability in our last camp which starts on July 8th. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or if you want camp registration paperwork.✨
