Not rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor pregnancy...

Shout out to our humane agent Aleigha for rescuing this sweet dog on the fly this afternoon after a call that he was very sick and owners were unable to afford care.

Rocco is now in our care, getting all the tests and treatment he will need to get him healthy. He is severely emaciated and dehydrated and has a nasty wound on his back end. He's ours now, so we promise he is in great hands.

He's also a little ham bone. ♥️

Newt was recently returned because he is not a fan of cats or kids. He will be great as an only pet because he looooves all the attention.

He's a HUGE fan of people and is enjoying some cuddle time with our gold star volunteer Gay.

Newt is 5 years old, sweet, and so cute. ♥️

Happy National Polka Dot Day! 🖤🤍

This pretty lil lady came in this week after being found crying outside in the freezing cold.

Polka Dot is around 3 months old, is super sweet and cuddly, and the fur on her head looks like a black swimming cap, or a toupee. 🥰

This is Hashbrown's "listen up, guys" face, so listen up, guys.

"If you're cold, they're cold."

The low temperature in Mansfield tonight is going to be 17 degrees. That's about the warmest it's going to be over the next several days.

Just a reminder to keep your pets indoors. Outdoor time should be limited to going potty only - 10 to 20 minutes, tops. Animals can get hypothermia and frostbite just like humans. Their fur coats do not make them any more equipped to handle the bitter cold. PLEASE do the humane thing and keep them inside.

Our humane agents responded to fifteen calls regarding animals that were outside this week. We expect that we'll get many more. Do us a favor and save us a trip. Please? We are a nonprofit that exists on donations, and we'd much rather spend our time caring for the animals in our shelter than driving around, reminding people to bring their animals inside. We don't want to file charges for animal neglect either, but we will if we have to.

That being said, if you see something, say something. The safety and comfort of companion animals is of the utmost importance to us. ♥️

Boomer said 2025 has been a bit of a bummer so far.

No, it's not because of the weather. It's because he has not had one single application or meeting or interest. And he's been here 310 days. With that face? We can't believe it either.

Boomer was left abandoned in a filthy trailer, and he's been waiting for some sort of redemption since then. A home. A family. Someone to be the recipient of all of his kisses.

Boomer is 3 years young, playful, affectionate, so sweet. He's is fine with female dogs and seems fine with cats. He is afraid of men, likely due to the dreadful circumstances he came from. He may just be a slow thaw and would benefit from multiple meet and greets.

We always knew we wanted Allison to do the artwork, and when we called her to see if she was open to it, she enthusiastically responded right away...and then she donated the entire project. So, um...😭💜💜💜

Allison, you CRUSHED it! We absolutely love your creation. We are so grateful to you and we are in awe of your talent! Thank you. 🥰

We are still putting the finishing touches on Wendy's Catio, a free-roaming patio that was created to give our resident cats more access to fresh air and sunshine.

The construction of this space was generously donated by our board member Dave and his wife Ginny. The space was created in honor of their daughter, Wendy, who is an avid cat lover.

Ribbon cutting next week. We are excited. The cats are going to LOVE it!

Newt will need to be in a quiet home with no children. He is grumpy and snippy towards kids and a complete jerk to cats. A mellow home would be ideal. Newt is a 5 year old, barrel-chested Chi.

He's awake and he's ready to party. Bones just finished up his surgery and is in recovery and feeling fantastic. So grateful for the skilled surgical hands of Dr. Jordan and Dr. Alyssa at Phillips Animal Hospital. The next 24-48 hours post-surgery are the most critical to his recovery - so he's not completely out of the woods just yet - but we are breathing a huge sigh of relief right now that he is up and breathing on his own. Phew. 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
