Every now and again a once in a lifetime opportunity pops up, and I got to take my Hamilton obsessed, obsessed, musical theater obsessed kid to NYC to be in with the one and only Lin Manuel Miranda. What was billed as an hour long moderated discussion was actually an incredible dive into his work, including songs from his major bodies of work with vocals from some of his favorite people. Definitely a day I will not soon forget. thank you to my crew at home for holding down the fort, and to my Sat riders for your schedule flexibility this weekend.

It’s been really fun watching these two get to know each other, and seeing how much effort Lora puts in each ride to improve her skills. It seems that she and Roccos work well together!

Tracks don’t lie, and they can tell us so much! By definition, a horse is straight when the hind foot falls in the track of the front foot. And when we examine the tracks in the second photo, that the horse has full pads on the front feet and no pads (so the frog is exposed) on the hind feet, we get a whole new revelation! For extra credit… what does this second photo show me? What’s it called when this happens?
I love when you can look down at a set of tracks and see how straight your horse was!

2024 was a year of many firsts - most positive, and some which I hope are also lasts. In 2024 we added so many new faces to our lesson program (horse and human), saw so many first horse shows for our riders, so many first times in a new division, so many firsts qualifying for finals, and the first time we had to deal with severe colic.
It was a year fraught with worry over the health of our beloved Scotty and Phantom, and a year when the outpouring of support in many forms literally brought me to tears time and again.
It was a year of deep gratitude, knowing that with the love and support of others we were able to rehabilitate them and see them back to doing their jobs in full.
And it was a year that I got to spend more time with my family, thanks to our incredible dream team of .a.shupe & .
I’m ready to close the door on 2024, and welcome in 2025 (as I steadily wrap my head around 25 years since Y2K….😳), and all the good things to look forward to.
