Every year I repost this, for people to consider before donating to one of the "national" animal welfare outfits. The ASPCA runs one shelter in NYC, but spends big bucks advertising nationally. They do NOT contribute to local SPCA shelters. This article is an example of how they still roll.

The Humane Society of the US has a long history of fund raising on shocking cases around the country, but never contribute to the care of that animal. Unforgivably, this is the organization that "rehabilitated" dog fighter Michael Vick's public reputation for a large cash donation.

I ask people to choose a local shelter or rescue to donate funds to, as you can see the work they're doing before donating. Thank you for your consideration.

Last night, our closest girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge. In Layla's memory, I am going to donate a Bandana of the Month Club subscription to a Rescue Group. It can be used as a fund raiser, or to help get a difficult to adopt dog into a forever home.
