Update 1/29/2025– Ashen is starting to warm up. He will greet people at the front of his cage now and meow for attention. He is still a bit hesitant to be touched, but has not shown any aggression.

Hello, humans. My name is Ashen Kutcher. Yes, I know what you're thinking—“Isn’t that a human name?” and yes, I am aware it’s an unusual name for a cat, but I’m an individual, okay? Let me start by saying that I’ve had a rough time lately, and it’s made me a little... cautious. When I first arrived at the shelter, I was scared, and I think you can understand why—loud noises, unfamiliar faces, and way too many other animals who wouldn’t stop staring at me. Naturally, I did what any self-respecting cat would do: I shut down and decided to observe from the safety of my corner.

But, dear humans, I’m not always like this! Underneath my shell, there’s a cat who craves the quiet comfort of a home—preferably one with a cozy spot to curl up and a patient, understanding human (preferably with snacks) who can give me the time I need to feel safe again. Once I trust you, you’ll see my true colors—soft purrs, gentle affection, and maybe even some sweet head bumps. I just need a little space to come out of my shell, so if you’ve got a quiet, peaceful home where I can decompress and feel safe, I’d be ever so grateful. I promise, once I’m comfortable, I’ll show you the best version of me.

(It's nearly impossible to place large breed dogs, especially bullies, in rescue. It's hard to get vet appointments and vetting prices have gone way up. She'll have a much better chance of getting placed if we can get the vetting done before she leaves.)

Meet Inky Blot, a sweet and affectionate stray cat in need of a loving foster home. This playful guy was found wearing a flea collar, but he was showing some concerning neurological symptoms such as occasional tremors, unsteadiness on his feet, and loud vocalizations. After removing the collar, Inky’s symptoms improved significantly over the next couple of days, leading us to believe it was likely a reaction to the chemicals on the flea collar.

Inky came in with flea dirt and ear mites, so he was treated with Capstar to address the fleas. Due to concerns about potential reactions, he has not yet been treated for the ear mites, but he's otherwise doing well. Inky has shown no further concerning signs and is a friendly, affectionate, and playful cat who loves to engage with people. He’s looking for a patient foster home to help him fully recover and give him the love and attention he deserves. If you're ready to open your heart to this adorable guy, he’s sure to bring plenty of joy to your life!

Meet Cowardly Lion, a sweet but shy stray who’s been through a lot.

For about a month, he was seen wandering a neighborhood, likely trying to survive the harsh elements. Sadly, the cold has taken a toll on him, leaving frostbite damage on his ears. Cowardly Lion is understandably nervous and scared after his time outdoors, so he’s understandably a little timid in the shelter. But with patience, he’s been coaxed out by food and a feather toy, showing glimpses of his gentle nature.
He is getting neutered Snap tested and vaccinated on 2/13!
Cowardly Lion is in need of a quiet, loving foster home where he can feel safe and decompress. With the right environment and a bit of time, we’re confident he will blossom into a trusting and affectionate companion. If you have a peaceful space and the heart to help him heal, Cowardly Lion might just be the furry friend you’ve been waiting for.

Well, hello there, sugar! The name’s Memaw, and I’m here to tell you that I may be a little older and a little slower than I once was, but I’m still full of love, charm, and the best snuggles you could ever ask for. Now, don’t let my wrinkles fool ya—I’ve still got a whole lotta heart, and I’m ready to share it with someone special like you.

I may be a bit hard of hearing these days (honey, it’s just the way of the world when you’ve been around a while), but I promise I’m still listening with my heart. Hey there, I’m Vega, and yeah, I know—I'm a bit of a mystery. I’m named after a star, but right now, I’m still figuring out how to shine like one. You see, I can be a little timid around new people. It’s just who I am right now, and I need someone who’ll be patient with me as I warm up and let my true, lovable self come through.

I’m not one for big crowds or loud places, which is why the shelter’s been a little tough on me. It’s not really my scene, you know?
