Have you lost or found a pet?
Pets Under Police Security (PUPS) is the animal holding facility for Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Crystal, Maple Grove, New Hope and Plymouth.
All animals must be brought in to our facility by an officer, we can't take in any pets directly from the public. If you have found a stray pet, please contact your local Police Department to have it picked up. An owner will be best able to find their pet if it is being held at the impound facility for the city it was lost in. They may not even think to check with other organizations (like Animal Humane Society) and may not be reunited with their pet.
If your pet goes missing, it is best to call PUPS to report it right away. We will post new incoming strays on this page as quickly as we can, but they may not always get posted the day they come in.
If your pet is in our care and it came in from any of the listed cities besides Maple Grove, be sure to go to that city to take care of any fees before coming to PUPS. We will need the paperwork from the city in order to release your pet. If your pet was brought in from Maple Grove, proof of Rabies vaccine and fees will be collected at PUPS.
All stray pets are held for five business days. Any unclaimed pet will then be made available for transfer to an approved rescue organization, PUPS is unable to do any adoptions.
