It’s an honor to be a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance accredited organization, joining forces and community with 86 organizations nationwide, all committed to providing exceptional care and rehabilitation of retired thoroughbreds.

Thank you TAA 💙

Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced today that $4.7 million in grants will be awarded to 86 Thoroughbred aftercare organizations that currently hold accreditation status for 2025.

This financial support is designed to assist organizations in delivering exceptional care and rehabilitation services for retired racehorses. Since its inception in 2012, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance has seen significant growth, expanding from 23 to 86 accredited organizations and increasing its annual grants from $1 million to $4.7 million. In total, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance has awarded over $40.74 million in grants, allocated specifically for equine care. These accredited organizations have successfully retrained, retired, and rehomed approximately 20,000 Thoroughbreds across 175 facilities.

🚨New Intake - Premier Approval🚨

Premier Approval (barn name: Remi), 2006 Illinois Bred, Thoroughbred Gelding.

We were alerted to Premier Approval by a fellow Thoroughbred Aftercare organization; he was found in a bad spot, underweight and Oklahoma auction lot. At 19 years old, blind in his right eye, very underweight and future uncertain we stepped in to get him the safe landing he deserves.

Remi is now safely back in Illinois, in quarantine with the angels at Indian Hills Thoroughbred Farm. Yesterday he had his first veterinary visit and has been prescribed antibiotics for a respiratory infection, and his teeth checked and floated.
He now needs to focus on gaining weight.

🫰Expenses for his care, veterinary, dental and transport have mounted.

We couldn’t help horses like Remi without your support. We are accepting donations towards his care. If you would like to donate we promise to give him a carrot in your honor 🥕🥕🥕

We accept PayPal, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, links on our website www.ilehc.org

Thank You from Remi
