ADOPTABLE 💙Our sweet Lou’s New Year Resolution is to find his perfect match💙

For our followers, you’ll recall Louis’ future was uncertain when he arrived with us as a stallion; with infected bite wounds, fractured skull, rib and multiple foot abcesses. Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers who’ve all played a part in his journey. A special thank you to Jackie at Indian Hills Thoroughbred Farm for the hours of wound flushing, organizing vet visits and showering him with love in the early days and thank you to Katelyn for helping with his re-training, Emily for the groundwork sessions.

Suitability: Currently re-training with focus on basic dressage, pole and strength work. A smart and quiet boy, confident and kind on the ground and under saddle. Will make someone an excellent lower level hunter/jumper, dressage or leisure partner. Would benefit from an intermediate to advanced rider to reach his potential.
General Demeanor: Kind, respectful, quiet, smart, good for vet/farrier/grooming/cross-ties. Currently turned out with one other gelding.
Adoption Fee: $1750 - Winter Special - will increase in line with training. Priority is finding him his perfect match.

Same pose, photos taken 6 weeks apart, on arrival at ILEHC and on the day of our Winter Event.

With his kind demeanor, Pappy has already won over the hearts of many ILEHC volunteers. We’re all enjoying watching his playful personality come out as he relaxes into life at ILEHC.

Our newest intake, Do the Evolution (barn name: Pappy) is seen here, very proud and grateful for the work of Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance who accredits, inspects and awards grants to approved aftercare organizations. The ILEHC is proud to be 1 of the 86 accredited organizations working hard to retrain, retire and rehome Thoroughbreds, like Do the Evolution 💙

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance for their longstanding support and work helping more retired Thoroughbreds find the safe, fulfilling futures they deserve. We are incredibly proud to be an accredited aftercare organization and part of nationwide network working together to help transition our Thoroughbreds to new homes and careers.

Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced today that $4.14 million in grants will be awarded to 83 Thoroughbred aftercare organizations that currently hold accreditation status for 2024.

"Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance is grateful to continue increasing the total grant amount each year to support accredited aftercare organizations. With a new record of over $4 million in grants awarded this year for the first time, it underscores our commitment to long-term equine welfare," said Stacie Clark-Rogers, Operations Consultant, Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. "We extend our sincere gratitude to the donors who go above and beyond the minimum giving levels. These generous contributions have made it possible to meet our annual funding targets, helping even more retired Thoroughbreds find the safe, fulfilling futures they deserve.
