We acknowledge the warmth of summer, but at what temperature does it become excessively hot for your pets? Please refrain from leaving your pet or children in the car during hot weather, even for brief errands.

Check how hot the pavement is before you take your pup for their daily walk. If it’s going to be hot we would suggest walking them in the early morning or later evening.

Please ensure your pets have easy access to fresh water and shade all day, whether they are indoors or outdoors.

And remember to have fun in this sun!

Your weekly reminder: Refrain from leaving dogs, children, or living beings in a vehicle for any duration, as interior temperatures can escalate rapidly to hazardous levels. When possible, leave pets at home if they cannot accompany you into your destination.

As summer approaches, bringing with it extremely high temperatures, it is crucial to recognize that concrete and asphalt surfaces can become excessively hot and potentially inflict burns on your pet's paws. To mitigate this risk, it is advisable to schedule walks during the cooler morning and late evening periods, or to utilize protective footwear for your pet's feet. Walking on shaded paths and trails is also effective.

Happy spring everyone! With it starting to warm up it’s time to talk about the creepy crawlies that can lurk on your pets, Fleas, Ticks and Heartworm!

Despite popular belief fleas and ticks are present in Western Washington year round, it does not get cold enough here to kill them off over the winter. We have seen 4 tick cases in the last 6 weeks which is more than in recent years.

Help prevent flea born issues like tapeworms, anemia, contact dermatitis and more as well as tick borne illness such as Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Pets can also get Heartworm disease from mosquitos.

Having your pets on a flea, tick and Heartworm preventative can save your pet from the long term consequences of having these parasites along with long hospital stays and vet bills.
