In Search Of: Assistant Trainer/Barn Manager at Encanto Valley Farm

Encanto is looking for an Assistant Trainer/Barn Manager to join our team in the Seattle, WA area. We are a show barn with approximately 20 horses. Our team is made up of a range from short/long stirrup, amateur hunters, .90m to 1.40 + jumpers. The perfect candidate will be detail oriented, a self-starter, strong horsemanship skills, great communicator, and has a strong hunter/eq/jumper foundation.

Responsibilities:

• This is a full-time, 6 day/week position based out of the Seattle, WA area

• This position includes riding & teaching; candidate must have strong horsemanship skills, with the ability to ride and teach equitation

• This position includes horse care and stable management

• This is primarily a home position, but will provide opportunities to travel and show; travel and show opportunities are dependent on the candidate’s qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• Someone with experience managing/teaching at an A circuit show barn

• Someone who enjoys interacting with clients, has strong communication skills (written and verbal), and strives to grow their students as horsepeople and riders

• Someone who takes pride in quality horsecare and keeping things running smoothly

• A positive, flexible attitude, and true team player

• Reliable and detail oriented self starter, with the ability to work independently

• Must be legal to work in the U.S. and able to travel to Canada

Save the Date : Clinic Weekend with Olympic : Gold Medalist Chris Kappler!
May 2-4, 2025 in the Parkslope Arena at the Evergreen Equestrian Center
More details and registration information to follow in January.

WSHJA is thrilled to provide an educational riding clinic with world class equestrian Chris Kappler! Chris is an Olympic Team Gold Medalist, Individual Silver Medalist and winner of over 100 Grand Prixs. He placed second in the USEF Medal Finals, third in ASPCA Maclay Finals and second in the USET Talent Search Finals.

Clinic fees will be sponsored by WSHJA and auditing will be open to all. Mounted participation will be limited to Jumpers and Equitation at the height of 3' and above. As riding spots will be limited, we will work to include representatives from as many WSHJA affiliated barns as possible. More information on registration and selection process will be announced in January.

Whether riding or auditing, this will be an incredible opportunity for WSHJA Members to learn from one of the very best in the sport, so mark your calendars!

Team EVF- Wind storm update from Maple Valley. Posting here because cell service is spotty for some. All horses, people, and the facility are fine. Trees down at the entrance and most of the main roads to the farm (if not all) are closed right now. No lessons for today.

Capo- good ribbons in the 3’ Hunters with Morgan and the 2’9” Adults/Eq with Erin

Claret Cup- fantastic ribbons in the 1.0m Jumpers with Morgan

Clarimero T- 4th in the DIHP Adult Equitation Challenge and also the USHJA Adult Jumping Seat Medal with Kate

Diatello- won the 1.05m Classic with Audrey

Eiffel- represented zone 9 in the 1.30-1.35m Platinum Championship with Morgan, the team finished 4th

Goose- Champion 1.20m Amateur Jumpers with Tia

Hidden Springs Dakota- Reserve Champion USHJA 2’ Hunter with Franny and had great ribbons in the stirrup hunters with Brianna

Lisandro RPH- great ribbons in the 3’ hunters with Morgan and the 2’9” Adult Hunter/Eq with Laura

Rooster- great ribbons in the 1.20m Amateur Jumpers with Tia

We have FOUR unicorns 🦄 heading to the National Sunshine Series in Thermal to find their new teammates -

Clarimero T- 2011, 16.3, Oldenburg, gelding. Perfect big Eq horse with the record to prove it. For keeps only. Low 6s

Hidden Springs Dakota- 2006, 14.2, Gelding. The absolute winner in Short Stirrup and Children’s Hunter Ponies. Auto everything. To borrow only, low-mid 5s. Starts with a 3.

Capo- 2014, 16.2, Oldenburg, gelding. Hunter extraordinaire! For keeps only. Low 6s

Claret Cup- 2008, 16, Dutch Warmblood, gelding. Best 1.10m jumper in the PNW. Has won everything from the .90m to the 1.20m. For keeps only, mid 5s starts with a 5.

Contact Morgan to set up times to try them. All are uncomplicated and wonderful to ride and be around.

Draconic- Reserve Champion in the .90m jumper with Morgan and fantastic ribbons with Olivia

Oliver Van De Leeuwerk- Reserve Champion in the 1.00m jumpers with Morgan & Brielle

Lennard Filano- Champion in the 1.0m jumpers with Franny & Chantel. Reserve Champion Jr/Am 1.0m jumpers with Chantel. They also won the classic

Filibuster- Champion in both the Long Stirrup Eq & Hunter with Jodi. Jodi also won ride of the day on Friday

Sketchy Past- Champion in the 1.15m Modified Jr/Am jumpers with Stephanie

Casallo & Amanda has fantastic placings in the 3’ Adult Hunters & Eq.

And Wende borrowed Filibuster for an amazing Queen of Hearts costume
