For those of you with fur babies who have fought or are currently fighting cancer, you understand the deep emotional toll it can take on everyone involved. Part of that journey is often having to sit by your pets’ side while he or she receives chemotherapy 💔

Thanks to Ed Torella, however, we now have a beautiful new addition to our chemotherapy room where owners can sit comfortably alongside their fur baby while they receive their treatment. This couch is dedicated to the memory of his dog, Rascal - a cancer warrior whose chemotherapy helped to prolong his life and continue to make beautiful memories with Ed ❤️‍🩹🐶

The couch is already being put to great use and we cannot thank Ed enough for this donation! In fact, Zeus Housley was able to sit next to his mom and dad just today during his last round of chemotherapy for lymphoma 🥹❤️

Just another example of why the Conch community has the best pet owners in the world!!! 🏝️

🏆🏆LET THE CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE!! 🏆🏆

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR DECEMBER AND JANUARY PETS OF THE MONTH: MATILDA AND TEDDY!!

As many of you know, Matilda went mysteriously missing on Christmas Eve 😭 But after a weeks long exhaustive search by her dad and with the help of many members of the Keys community, she was located and brought home!! Matilda had undergone a lot of physical and emotional recovery since her reunion, but she is back to living her best life with Dad and she absolutely loved getting her BarkBox! And we love you Matilda ❤️❤️

Teddy, on the other hand, has had chronic GI issues related to an inflammatory bowel condition. He has sadly spent his whole life on medications and experienced terrible bloating, appetite issues and diarrhea. However, after some nutritional counseling by us and investigation on his mom’s part, Teddy found a therapeutic diet that has help fully resolve his symptoms!! And as of today, he is off meds and feeling zesty as ever!! Congrats, Teddy - we love you too ❤️❤️

HAPPY 25th ANNIVERSARY, DEIDRE MORRIS!!! 🥳❤️

For 25 years, Deidre has been the friendly, fun, and boisterous front desk face of our clinic! She is always the first person to lend a helping hand, greet you like an old friend, make sure patients are seen promptly, be a shoulder for clients to laugh or cry on, and pitch in to keep the clinic day running smoothly. 🐶🐱

We simply cannot imagine the place without you, and we cannot thank you enough for your years of dedicated service!! Your KAH family loves you!!

Santa came and visited with all the good doggies and kitties of the Keys last night!! 🎅🐶🐱

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 2024 edition of Keys Animal Hospital’s Pet Photos with Santa! We had over 100 animal attendees and the photos are absolutely amazing! 💚❤️🎄

A huge shout out also goes out to our staff, the animal charity attendees, and of course Santa himself for working so hard and helping to bring the Christmas spirit to our island!

🏆 CONGRATS TO OUR NOVEMBER PET OF THE MONTH, SCARLETT 🏆

Scarlett was diagnosed with an agressive form of cancer called Hemangiosarcoma. With the help of our team and a lot of loving support from her mom, she has made it through an emergency splenectomy (spleen removal), a intensive surgery to remove metastasis (spread) to her skin, and has made it through multiple rounds of chemo.

As of today, she is doing great and is back to her old self! She comes for rechecks each time wagging her tail and getting unbelievable spoiled by our staff!! We love Scarlett and are so happy to see the progress she’s made and how well she’s doing!!

And as you can see, Scarlett was thrilled to get her BarkBox just in time for Thanksgiving! Way to go, Scarlett ❤️❤️❤️ 🦃🍁

Patient update 🚨

Remember our August POM, Skye?? Skye overcame the once invariably fatal FIP virus with a first of its kind oral antiviral treatment!!! She went through significant hair loss and fought hard for a long time, but she made it to her one year vaccine appointment today! She’s officially FIP free with a beautiful full coat!!! Cases like this make us happier than anyone can imagine😻😻😻

HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN or MEOW-LO-WEEN for those who celebrate!! 🎃👻🎃

Thank everyone so much for participating in the KAH pet costume contest!!

Our staff has picked the winner for three categories: most creative costume, who wore it best large dog, and who wore it best small dog! 🏆

1. Most creative goes to our favorite s’more Hattie Mae, with our adorable runners up wounded warrior Kimber and seeing eye dog Noelle 👓

2. Large dog who wore it best (selected from premade costumes) goes to Rue the very brave lion!! With an honorable mention to Lulu the spider dog! 🕷️

3. Small dog who wore it best goes to sweet hippie flower child Violet 🌺 , with our adorable runner up Lucy the not so smelly skunk 🦨

But, in all honesty, every dog and cat is a winner!! And as much fun as it was voting, we had just as much fun taking these photos with your pets! I mean look at the smiles 😍😍

We love them and you all and cannot wait until Santa visits soon so we can get another photo op with your furry loved ones🎅

ANOTHER WINNER IN THE HOUSE - CONGRATS TO OUR SEPTEMBER PET OF THE MONTH, TANGO 🏆🥇

Tango was hospitalized for over a week with life threatening pancreatitis that caused a number of issues in his body including kidney malfunction! But now, with a lot of TLC, fluids, and a new drug IV designed to combat pancreatitis, Tango is back to his spry self! And as you can see, he couldn’t wait to break into his BarkBox!! 😍

Way to go little buddy!! ❤️❤️

🐾🎉 August Pet of the Month: Meet Skye! 🎉🐾

We are thrilled to introduce you to our brave and beautiful feline friend, Skye! This little warrior recently completed a successful course of treatment for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) with a new oral medication available to veterinarians, and she’s now thriving!

Skye’s journey has been one of resilience and strength. Thanks to the innovative treatment and her loving family’s support, she has overcome FIP, a once-devastating diagnosis for cats. Her playful spirit and gentle purrs are back, brighter than ever! While she has a little hair to regrow, we couldn’t be happier with her progress and her parents’ determination to get her feeling better 🩷🩷🩷

Congrats to our July Pet of the Month, Ace!!! 🏆

Ace went missing in the woods of Georgia after someone fired off a gun nearby and spooked him. After an exhaustive 12 day, 30 mile woodland search by his owner, Ace was located in a ditch dehydrated, covered in ticks and half alive 😱 Since then, however, Ace has been in and out of the hospital receiving care from multiple doctors to get him back to his normal, health self. And as of today, Ace is looking better than ever!!!! ❤️ Way to go Ace and a big shout out to his owner, Michael, who never gave up hope of finding him!! 🐶😍

🌪️🐾 Hurricane Preparedness for Your Pets! 🐾🌪️

Hey Pet Parents! 🐶🐱

As hurricane season kicks off, it’s crucial to keep our furry family members safe and sound. Here are some essential tips to ensure your pets are prepared for any storm! 🌀❤️

1. **ID Tags & Microchips**: Make sure your pets have up-to-date ID tags and microchips. It’s their ticket home if they get lost! 🏡✨

2. **Emergency Kit**: Pack a pet emergency kit with food, water, medications, a leash, and comfort items. Don’t forget a recent photo of your pet! 📸🆘

3. **Safe Shelter**: Identify pet-friendly shelters or hotels in advance. Not all emergency shelters allow pets, so plan ahead! 🏨🐕

4. **Calming Aids**: Storms can be scary! Consider having calming sprays, thunder shirts, or their favorite toys to ease anxiety. 🧸🌈

5. **Evacuation Plan**: Practice your evacuation plan with your pets. The more familiar they are, the less stressful it will be! Also, have a plan in place if you’re traveling as well and have left your pets behind 🚗💨
