Who is ready for the New Year and a new companion who will stay by your side and give you infinite affection?

We’ve featured Atiye before … but she’s been in a foster home and we can now share more pictures and videos of her personality . (Videos in comments👇)

She only 1.5 years old but is an old soul, loving, calm and craves human affection. She gives you head nudges, licks and loves to sit on your lap . She’ll also entertain you with her zoomies 😆

She does want all of your attention and love to herself and does not enjoy being around other animals so she prefers to be the only animal in the home.

Call the shelter to schedule a meet/ greet (since she’s in foster there’s a lot more flexibility in scheduling to meet her evenings and weekends.)

🛍The foster parents will also provide a goodie bag and a chewy gift card to spoil her

This poor kitty was hit by car today- we picked him up in the town of Murphy. He has a shattered front left limb/shoulder. From the looks of the injury, he will most likely need the leg removed. He also has some broken teeth and a wound in the back leg..We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of surgery and veterinary care. We have not been able to locate the owner but this kitty is so sweet and deserves a chance. Anything will help and we appreciate all you guys do!!

We’ve featured Goldie before … but not like this ❤️….
Goldie is currently in a foster home to give her a break from the shelter and because of this we can detail her exact personality! (Video in comments 🤗)

She’s 1 year old who loves belly rubs. You won’t find a mean bone in this kitty!

She is the happiest cat you’ll ever meet, constantly purring and making biscuits.

She craves human affection yet wants to play with other kitties.

She’s the perfect bundle of affection, calmness and playfulness.

A word from Cheyenne:
We have an awesome power couple that has continued to adopt older, medically special dogs and pitties that wouldn't have a chance otherwise. The most recent VRHS dog was Neo- now known as Bruce. These wonderful Cherokee county residents have a hard time seeing all the sweet faces here at the shelter but... despite their heartbreak/feelings they decided to buy 200 blankets and a bunch of dog treats to come hand out to our residents for Christmas.
We would greatly appreciate anybody baking or buying some dog and cat treats for the staff to spoil these babies during the holidays. Even if their Christmas doesn’t look like the typical family photo we can always brighten their day with a sweet treat or new blanket.
Thank you to all who donate or volunteer WE can’t do this without you!!

It’s Giving Tuesday and here’s one of the best saves of 2024! Midge, now Jessie, was found as a stray shot, seizing, and crashing from her wounds. Spicola got right to work, bringing Midge back to life. Fast-forward a few months and the newly-healed, forever-loved. Jessie is living life with her amazing adoptive family. Miracles happen. Every day. If not Valley River Humane Society, who? How would this faithful dog have been saved? How would we see what resilience, faith, and trust look like in our own lives? Happy Thanksgiving

I wanted to wish everyone at VRHS a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you have had a really good day with family and friends A special Thank You goes out to those that came in to take care of all the shelter fur babies. I know it was a busy day for you, but I hope you have had time this afternoon and evening to enjoy this Thanksgiving day with your family and friends.
All of you are amazing and very dedicated to the welfare of all the animals at VRHS.

Meet Goldie 💛🧡

This sweet 1 year old girl would be so thankful and grateful to find her furever home .

She is incredibly affectionate but prefers being the only cat in the house.

Remember how y’all pulled together to save this little guy’s life? Dakota is on the mend, slowly gaining weight and finally beginning to play like a puppy! After being skinny, scared, on the brink of departing this world, Dakota will not only make it but thrive. We need more saves like this one! Ricki has healed from the car accident and reunited with his family. He is so happy and we are grateful to get him home

Hi. This is a video of Asher who LOVES balls. looking for home. Very people friendly and loves to play. Needs to be an only child, no other fur babies. Also a special mention to our donors! That ball was donated to the shelter so a huge thank you for the donated toys our babies love them and they really makes their days better!
