What a fun day at the farm! We had the Stateline Hotshot Drill Team in to practice. What a talented group of ladies and horses!
If you get the chance to see them perform you should go! They will be at the Midwest Horse Fair this year.

This seems like it would be really fun!

Fling is a farm favorite! He’s 14yr old, 13.3 hh, takes up a lot of leg! Bonus…he’s built like a tank! He walk, trot, canters, will jump and trail rides! Has carted kids around and serious adult riders.
He has been with an advanced beginner whose circumstances have change. Days are flexible. Owner would be open to showing possibilities.

We love when Suzanne with Positively Dressage. She always has great insight and all the riders take home knowledge of how to make it better!
She will be returning to KickOn, Inc on Saturday, December 2. If you’d like to participate please contact us! Trailer ins welcome!

So pleased with our ride today under the ever watchful eye of Mary Wanless. This is, if my count is correct, my 21st clinic working with her, but the first time I have ridden the same horse two clinics in a row. It has been such a learning experience to ride a wide range of horses with Mary, but riding my own is so special. The improvement from when we last rode with Mary in May until now is clear, and our partnership so much deeper. We are working on getting both of Victor’s long back muscles working more equally, keeping his core engaged to keep his thoracic sling up, and when it all comes together, it is so good! What does it take to make that happen? I focused on keeping my left thigh more solid and narrow, envisioning my long back muscles connecting to his, staying in the back of my body to connect the back of him to the front, and making sure I kept my energy going forward over the withers. We work on the small details to solidify all of the building blocks, so that the quality of all of the other movements can continue to improve. The work is worth it! And I 🧡 this horse so much!!

WOW!! What a weekend for our barn family. We had riders going to two different shows.
First Miss A and Fling went to Silverwood Farm and brought home 2nd place!!! They have been working hard and it shows!
Next, Kim and Othello headed north to the spectacular Otter Creek Horse Trials. They put in 3 very respectable and well behaved phases to come home with 3rd place!!
Both competitors had huge smiles and successful day!!
Way to go ladies!!!

I stole this from another post because I couldn’t share it…but absolutely true!!! We don’t just say don’t hose off the mud/sand/dirt on your horse in the wash rack to be jerks. There is a reason. It’s a pain in the ass and it smells SO BAD.

In case you were wondering, this is what it looks like down the drain, under the mats, in the wash stall. The whole thing is about 4 feet deep, the actual drain is near the top—the idea is the solids settle to the bottom and only water goes through the drain pipe. As you can see in the first photo the black sludge was about three feet deep and getting rather close to the drain pipe. If the solids —dirt, sand, manure—start to get into that pipe it will destroy the pump’s motor, not a cheap fix. That’s why you should NOT hose off your horse’s dirty legs, etc in the wash stall. And you should NOT try to wash manure down the drain. And if I see any of you doing it—you get to do this job next year! 💩

Feel free to share this post if you have a similar system at your barn.
