Update on Garfield
Unfortunately, he still hasn’t returned home. 😔

Our beloved chicken, Maggy Mae passed away last night. 💔

"It's been a rough few days. My big boy Garfield 🐱 hasn’t come home since the storm, and I have been searching everywhere for him. Every moment without him feels heavy.

To add to the worry, my chicken, Maggy Mae, is sick tonight. I'm doing everything I can, but I'm anxious about her health. Her crop is impacted, but Brian and I were able to massage it out. I just hope she can pull through.
An impacted crop in chickens refers to a condition where the crop, which is a pouch-like structure in the digestive system that stores food before it moves to the stomach, becomes blocked or unable to empty properly. This blockage can be caused by various factors, including:
1. Inadequate Digestion: Eating dry, coarse, or fibrous food can lead to poor digestion and accumulation of material.
2. Foreign Objects: Chickens may ingest items like feathers, plastic, or other non-food items that can create a blockage.
3. Dehydration: Lack of water can lead to hard food mass that is difficult to process.

What an exhausting day! Took all three dogs to the vet today to get their vaccinations up-to-date, They had me all tangled in their leashes, but it was totally worth it.

When we got home, we were greeted by the most breathtaking sunset—an explosion of bright orange in the sky! I couldn’t resist capturing a picture of my fur babies against that gorgeous backdrop at our Homestead.

Here's to the little moments that make hectic days worthwhile.
