Forgot to take pics today cause my back was a nightmare save this one. What we look for in lessons is progress in our riders. We want the horse AND the rider to perform better in the second half better than the first. And all of my girls conquered something today. It could be something as small fixing your hands the last lap, getting rail proximity right in that final corner but the biggest lesson is to end on victory no matter how small because that's how good riders are made and great horses are built. Brilliant riding comes not from repetition but from learning when to stop in the name of progress.

I know you are all anxious about getting makeups in on MLK. As many wonderful qualities as I possess, predicting the future weather is not one of them. If it is warm enough next week, I will add on lessons where I can. We can ride in 30s just not too far under that. Your best bet to snag a spot is keep your eyes on the page. Stay dry and warm my friends.

Norah got her hands together and had some great canter work.
And Addie and Bob had an introduction to the simple change.

This week we will be focusing on treating our horse like a dance partner, not a a machine. We will focus on how we must carry and conduct ourselves in the saddle rather than imitating an unbalanced sack of potatoes who demands perfection from the animal with no accountability for their own inadequacy. Proper mounting, kind communication and rider fitness are some key concepts for this weeks lessons. Groudpole week and jumping January to resume after arena renovations.
