Want to try something new with your pup in the new year? I highly recommend dog parkour!

I just confirmed an intro to dog parkour class starting next Saturday at Delightful Dog in East Cobb (near Lower Roswell Rd and Johnson Ferry) It is four weeks, 1-11, 1-18, 2-1, and 2-8 from 3:30-4:30. (we will be off 1-25)

The class is a lot of fun! You and your dog learn how to navigate obstacles together as they climb, balance, go over, under, in and around them.

I am a certified dog parkour instructor and in person evaluator for the training and novice titles with the International Dog Parkour Association.

If you want to learn more, please reach out. If you can't make this class, but want to learn more, let me know.

Meet Beanie! Beanie was adopted from Three Dog Night Rescue as a young puppy. He is now five months old. Beanie loves to learn!

Beanie and his family are doing a day training package with me. Day training is ideal for young dogs Beanie’s age. At this age there is so much to learn and busy families often don’t have time to do it all. With day training I help the pups learn the basic skills, including leash walking and engage in enrichment. I then pass those skills on to the pup’s guardians.

Beanie’s people are committed to positive reinforcement training and helping set Beanie up to be a fantastic family dog.

If you would like to learn more about how to bring out the very best in your dog please give me a call 770-971-6093 or email me [email protected]

This is what positive reinforcement dog training looks like! No pain or force. Just a happy puppy, Phoebe, enjoying her walk.

She frequently checks in and walks next to me because it feels good to do so. And there is lots of sniffing along the way.

Meet Maple! This sweet girl was recently adopted from Cobb County Animal Services

She is a typical adolescent pup. She’s energetic, impulsive, pushes boundaries, and doesn’t make the decisions, just like a typical adolescent human. Training is really important during this stage of development.

Maple’s new family is committed to positive reinforcement training and helping Maple succeed in her new home.

When adopting a dog, especially from a shelter, remember the importance of decompression, management and reinforcement to set your new family member up for success.

Meet Phoebe! Such a happy girl! She is a four month old Bernedoodle puppy who's family just got her started in my day training program!

Let me jump start your puppy training with day training!

I work with your puppy (or dog) in your home one on one 2-3 times a week. Then meet with you and your family to teach you what your puppy is learning so you can maintain the training.

Day training is convenient and personalized for you and your puppy (or dog). It's a win/win.

Management is an important part of dog training.

Management stops your dog from engaging in undesirable behaviors while we teach and practice desirable alternative behaviors.

Remember, when your dog practices something, they get better at it.

Baby gates, crates, leashes, and x-pens are great management tools.

You can use a baby gate to block the kitchen to prevent counter surfing.

Or leash your dog when guests arrive to prevent them from jumping on visitors.

While you are using management to prevent undesirable behaviors, it is also important to reinforce desired behaviors.

I encourage you to give your dog something to lick outside the kitchen when you are cooking.

And don't forget to reward them when greeting guests with all four feet on the ground.

Management is training!

I love working with puppies for an extended time to support them and their people, as they develop and grow into an amazing dog. One of the things that the extended support allows is for us to get out into the real world and practice everything we have been learning at home.

I have been working with Murphy since June. When I first met him he was just a puppy and now he’s an adolescent. His people are committed to Murphy and helping him be the best dog he can be. And he is! Murphy has truly developed into a fantastic dog! 😍
This brings me joy!

Meet Zelda! I'm going to be honest, when I first met Zelda, I didn't know if she was going to let me work with her.

She is learning to trust me and is really coming out of her shell now.

With lots of sniffing enrichment and some parkour to teach her new things, she is blossoming.

It brings me so much joy seeing her happy and learning. She loves to learn and engage with her people. Her people are committed to her success.

I have said it before and will say it again, I LOVE MY JOB!
