California has officially banned declawing!!! California joins New York, Maryland, Rhode Island and Massachusetts in having made this humane decision! Thank you to Assembly Member Alex Lee! Thank you Governor Gavin Newsome for making so many welfare decisions to benefit animals in the state of California, including this one! Spread the word, we still have work to do!

100%! That's why we do what we do here! We keep cats and their people together, always have, always will. We've practiced this way long before Fear Free was even in existence, we were feeding the cats treats in the exam rooms, keeping the pet parents with the cats, offering soft bedding and taking carriers apart for kinder access etc. After we learned about fear free we added classical music and feline vertical space!

New research says that you being there can reduce stress—and that most cat guardians prefer to be present, even for blood draws.

Some great progress here!

AB 867, the California Declaw Prohibition Bill, just passed a concurrence vote in the California State Assembly. The vote was 74-0.
The bill now goes to the Governor

It's National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day! Davis says, "No hurry!" HA!

Also, note his bed...he has had this since he lived here at the office. It's crazy old. Resist the urge to toss beloved items, cats like familiarity and our human whim to toss and replace can really rock their world. This is especially important when moving, bring old things from home that smell like home, even used litter in an unscrubbed, familiar litter box. Scent is very important to our cats!
