With so many safe and effective preventatives out there, there is no reasons for cats to suffer from this preventable disease. Please remember that the Southeastern part of the United States has the highest incident of heartworm infections in the country. It is paramount that your cats are on prevention every month all year long.

Helen needs a home! Anyone looking?

Name: Helen 1yr, SF, Siamese-ish DSH. Purrs A lot

Likes: to eat, sleep, and play. Gets along well with my other cats.

Dislikes: super excited dogs (she will give skittly-paps when my golden sits on her)

This sweet girl needs an indoor-only home as she is deaf and seems visually impaired. She was diagnosed as having Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but she gets around very well, and doesn’t seem to be affected by it much. She is spayed and current on prevention and vaccinations.

Reason for Rehoming: She came from a woman who no longer could care for her, and my husband and I disagree on the number of cats we should keep.

We live in Newnan but willing to meet potential adopters in Atlanta!

If you’re interested in giving this little lady a home, give me a shout!

TRUTH! We carry this little gem and it really is an absolutely fantastic staple to add to your cat's interactive/lure toy collection.

Have you ever tried one? Amazing under a pile of Catnip and silvervine infused tissue paper sheets from Cocktails and Meows!

Have you played with your cat today?

Here’s why cats “lose their minds when this toy comes out,” as one reviewer put it.

Hopefully one day we won’t need a no declaw day!

Lilies are one of the single most highly toxic things you could have in your home if you have cats. Even ONE bite of one petal can lead to acute kidney failure. In all of our years of treating cats we have only ever saved ONE from death and they lived with chronic kidney disease for the rest of their days. Please NO LILLIES!

Happy Spring 🪴 A reminder that Lilies are toxic to cats and can be fatal even if only a small amount is eaten. ‼️

Welcome Dr. Luoma and Dr. Hiers!
We are absolutely ecstatic to announce that we have hired TWO wonderful and passionate doctors to carry the torch and mission at Paws Whiskers and Claws! We are also very pleased to share with you that Dr. Globerman will be staying on as their mentor to help, guide, and teach the “PWC way” which will allow us to uphold the standard of care you have come to expect. She will also serve as our relief vet when one of our new docs are out of the office. There is a reason clients drive from all over the state and surrounding states to come here! We wish to teach and instill our techniques, treatment protocols, tips and tricks to allow our reputation to carry on to the next generation.

Paws Whiskers and Claws is still going to be here for you and FOR THE CATS!

Now, without further ado, allow us to introduce to you, Dr. Rachel Luoma and Dr. Ellen Hiers!

Dr. Rachel Luoma is a Georgia native who has been passionate about cats since a young age. She completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Biology. She then moved to Athens, GA, to complete her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia. Following graduation, Dr. Luoma moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she practiced feline-only medicine for nearly two years. She then moved back to Georgia and transitioned to cat and dog medicine. However, since her passion lay with feline medicine, she knew she would make the transition back to feline-only medicine as soon as she could. She is happy to be seeing cats only again at Paws, Whiskers, & Claws. Dr. Luoma is an AAFP cat-friendly certified veterinarian as well as a Fear Free practitioner. She shares her home with her fiance, four spoiled cats, and a greyhound (who really is an honorary cat). Outside of work, Dr. Luoma enjoys spending time with her family, learning piano, and swing dancing.

Dr. Ellen Hiers is originally from Savannah, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hiers worked as a registered technician in a small animal clinic for 5 years before attending veterinary school. She did not know she wanted to practice feline-only medicine until her clinical year in which she did an externship at a cat-only practice and saw the difference it made to the level of care provided. She loves seeing how much better cats do when handled properly. She was president of the American Association of Feline Practioners while at UGA and is Fear-Free certified. Dr. Hiers has a special interest in internal medicine and senior and neonatal care. While working as a tech and over her summer breaks in school she fostered over 40 kittens with various medical needs.

Dr. Hiers grew up with a menagerie of animals including horses, pigs, goats, chickens, dogs, and of course, lots of cats. She has 6 ex-community cats and 3 bottle babies of her own, and one black pitbull, aptly named Binx. In her spare time she enjoys reading, riding horses, and spending time with family.

We look forward to you meeting both of our new doctors! They will be joining us this summer! Stay tuned!
