Whackie!
Hello everyone! It’s Whackie! Remember me? I hope so!! But in case you’ve forgotten, I am in a foster home because I am Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. Because it is very contagious to other kitties, I cannot live at the shelter. So I am currently living with my foster parents, who rescued me. If you do remember me, since I posted a few weeks ago, you know I had a sister, Tiny T. Sadly, T. T. crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. ☹She was lethargic, losing weight, and just not comfortable. The vet said she had an internal mass, and it was decided to humanly let her go. It was devastating to me. I love my sis and we had such a special bond. I miss her and her companionship SO MUCH! But that is the sad fact of FeLV. We don’t live super long lives, that’s why it’s so hard for us to find families. Which isn’t fair. Yes, some pass away early on, but some can live for a few years. But either way, don’t we deserve love and a family? If we are here for 5 months or 5 years. Better to have us in your life for awhile rather than not at all. That’s what I think, anyway! But now that I am 11 months old and doing great and am healthy, hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones and live for a long, long time! Now I just need to find that family of mine! As you can see in my video, I am very active and playful. I love having a good time, running, fetching, jumping, climbing. I don’t tire out easily, but when I do, I love to seek out my foster mom’s lap for a little siesta! My foster parents adore me, but because they have 2 cats that I can’t be around, they really want me to find a loving family. They think I deserve it. So what I am looking for is a home where another FeLV kitty lives and we can be best pals. Or as a single kitty where I will get lots of attention, play-time, and snuggles. So if you are willing to open your heart and home to me, please reach out!! Like I said, I am not at the shelter, so you will need to email [email protected] and we can arr

Sasha
Sweet, super shy Sasha was adopted in 2019 and she hit a major milestone the other day. For the first time, she willingly crawled in her mom's lap! Go, Sasha!!🥳
If you know Sasha, then you will understand why this is so special!
Cardigan!
We love this update on our friend, Cardigan!!
His new name is Oscar, because he was adopted around the time of the Academy Awards and he was dressed and ready to go in his tuxedo! He is so happy in his new home, the video was on his first day at home. He has met one of his new cat siblings and they are getting along really well. His new mom says Oscar is a real people cat, loves attention, pets and loves to sit on her lap. He’s been watching basketball with his new dad, too. He’s a very happy boy!🥰
Reunited by Microchip
A heartwarming story of reuniting a pet with his owner is how we spend the beginning of our 2024. 🥹🥹🥹 Microchipping not only brings brings lost pets home, but also ensures their safety and well-being.
We’re hosting a community microchip and vaccination clinic (open to all dogs and cats) on Sunday, January 21 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. This is a low-cost way to ensure the safety of your pet in 2024.
If your pet already has a microchip, take this opportunity to make sure you information is up-to-date with your current names, phone numbers, emails, and home address.
You can schedule your appointment with us by visiting: https://www.goodmews.org/microchip-vaccination-clinic
Looks like Monica and Rachel are having a blast in their new home!
Happy Mother’s Day to all, including those who own pets (because being a pet mom counts, too!)
We also wish a special day of love to our foster moms, who not only work hard year-round, but really step up to the plate during the craziness of kitten season.
Us humans and all the Good Mews kitties appreciate all that you do, both today and every day! 💕
Happy Mother’s Day!
When you’re an almost all-female staff of Taylor Swift fans, you’re bound to see some passionate names…
Hello world, meet Swift! 🐈⬛
Swift is a 4-week old peanut who was found as a single orphan in a horse barn. Right now, he’s in his rescue era. He’s about half the size of what a typical 4-week old kitten would be, and we can attribute it to being on his own during the first stages of his life. But he’s getting stronger by the day, and he’s gained .13 pounds since coming into our care.
Pretty soon he will enter his foster era, and will get lots of care and love to grow up strong and healthy. Once he gets to about 8 weeks old, he will be available for the next era of his life, his forever home era.
We know he’s going to have a great personality. He’s very vocal and has a strong purrrrrr.

February is the month of love and Patriot and Sassy are here to show their love! Not only to each other but to their Kitty Keeper sponsors as well.
Patriot and Sassy both receive the best love and care at Good Mews and that is due, in part, to our Kitty Keeper supporters. Our Kitty Keeper program allows you to give love to a special cat who needs you whether you are near or far! For a monthly donation of $20.00 or more, you can sponsor one of our shelter residents with limited options for adoption due to medical or other reasons. This kitty will send you quarterly updates with a photograph and a personal note. Your donation will go toward the care of your “kept” kitty and its shelter friends.
Much love to you all! Would you like to feel the love? Sign up for Kitty Keeper by going to https://www.goodmews.org/kitty-keeper
Sound on to hear the most polite cat that’s ever entered the Misty Williamson Surgical Suite. This cutie came to us from another rescue for a spay/neuter procedure. Say hello back!
It only took us 4 days into the new year...
Our first shelter pull of 2023 took place up at Forsyth County Animal Control. We brought 19 cats and kittens back to Good Mews on January 4. Meet the new cute faces in the video below!
Martin, Kelso, and Nila all wish you a Happy Thursday! By the way, they’re all up for adoption, along with many other kittens. We’ve got a surplus of kittens here, just waiting to find the purrfect family!
Check out our CATalog to learn more about each of them, and see all our cats and kittens available for adoption!

We are happy to share that the ASPCA Rescue Ride made it to Good Mews safely at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The 24 kitties from Lee County Domestic Animal Services are all tucked in safely for the night with a wet food snack, and tomorrow will start medical exams. More information will come soon.
We are also happy to announce that we are at 72% of our funding goal for this disaster recovery mission. If you feel inclined to help, please visit: www.sym.goodmews.org
Goldie and Lemur were adopted a couple weeks ago and how adorable is this video? Goldie is such a great big sister!
