K-9 Kona!

On February 27th at around 9:30pm, deputies responded to a location in Pickens County in reference to locating Gregory Scott Townsend on a general sessions bench warrant for failure to appear in court. Upon arrival, Townsend was observed fleeing into the woods. K9 Kona and handler DFC Nikki Holliday began a track while Sgt. Reed Kent deployed a drone. Sgt. Kent observed a thermal image in the area of the K9 track and Townsend was taken into custody without incident.

We are thankful that our deputies have the ability to utilize K9's and technology such as drones to ensure their safety and the safety of the community. Great work Bravo Team!!

On February 17th at approximately 9:26am, PCSO received a call for response to a residence in Pickens County in reference to a male subject assaulting a female subject and actively burning her personal items. Cpl. Brady Autrey arrived on scene within 5 minutes and the male suspect fled into the woods. Cpl. Autrey deployed his K-9 partner, Shadow, and began a successful track of the suspect. Sgt. Tony Duncan deployed a drone and was able to locate a thermal image in the close vicinity of the K-9 track. This information was relayed to Cpl. Autrey and the suspect was successfully apprehended without any further incident.

This is another great example of highly trained deputies, K-9 partners, and technological advancements bringing a dangerous situation to a successful resolution without any harm to the deputies or the public. Well done gentlemen and K9 Shadow!!🫡👏

On February 8th, PCSO deputies responded to a location on Archery Club Road in reference to locating Charles Rodney Caldwell. Caldwell had an active arrest warrant for Assault and Battery 1st Degree. Upon arrival, Caldwell fled from the back of the residence and into the woods. DFC Nikki Holliday deployed with K-9 Kona to track the suspect. While actively tracking, Sgt. Reed Kent deployed a PCSO Drone with Thermal Imaging. As K-9 Kona approached, Sgt. Kent was able to provide evidence of a thermal image, allowing deputies to safely engage the suspect and take him into custody without incident.

This is a perfect example of well-trained deputies, K-9's, and access to technological advances all working together to provide citizens with the utmost protection from dangerous individuals. A phenomenal job was done by all involved and both our deputies and our citizens were kept safe.
