Dr. Presley (with the Foundation) will be teaching a K-9 First Aid class at the Pickens County Sheriff's Office on June 26, 2024 from 0900 - 1300 Hrs.

This is a free class.

The Kilo 9 Foundation "provides relevant and realistic K9 training to law enforcement officers by hosting medical training and tactical workshops with law enforcement agencies across the country."

SHERIFF’S OFFICE WELCOMES NEW EXPLOSIVE DETECTING K-9

The Sheriff’s Office placed a new explosive detection K-9 into service last week. K-9
“ BALOO” a labordor retriever was purchased from Carolina K-9 Academy in Marietta, South Carolina. BALOO was born in Spain. Lt. Josh Rigsby is his handler and as a team completed a 8 week certification course with Dan Cliff of Integrity K-9 in Morristown .

Pickens City Police Department K9 team participate in national calendar to help protect law enforcement dogs

Cpl. Caleb Cassell and K9 Boss appear in the 2024 Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. nationwide fundraising calendar. Each year, twelve Law Enforcement K9s who are recipients of vests provided by the nonprofit organization are highlighted in the publication along with a memorial page paying tribute to the four-legged heroes who have passed.

Calendars are available for purchase online for $20 via the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. website at www.vik9s.org. For additional information or mail orders contact 508-824-6978.

All proceeds from the 2024 calendars will be used to provide equipment and services for law enforcement K9s nationwide.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has donated over 5,435 bullet and stab protective vests to law enforcement K9s in all 50 states at a value of over $6.9 million dollars.

Good job Boss!

On 02/05/2024, Cpl. Cassell and Officer Russell conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a license plate violation. During the course of the traffic stop, Cpl. Cassell deployed K9 Boss to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Boss alerted to the odor of narcotics and officers conducted a search of the vehicle. Officers located more than half a pound of methamphetamine in the vehicle along with a firearm the driver had in their possession, and pills determined to be a controlled substance. The male and female suspect were both arrested and jailed on the following charges.
