We will have continental breakfast options in the morning so we don't go hungry on the trail!

Hi All, friendly reminder regarding the Sand Gilia on the trails and surrounding areas around the Marina Equestrian Center. If you go out for a trail ride there you will notice there is some new cable fencing to protect the sensitive areas. Below is a map to remind everyone where the sand gilia has been identified (the red x's). The blue path has been identified as the best route.

Hello All, mark your calendars for August 13th MEA Membership Trail Ride and picnic. Timing is TBD but we will be riding out from good 'ole MEC. If you'd like to bring any nippers to try to tame some of the wildly over grown trails while we're out the more the merrier. MEA will provide lunch! Not a member yet? The vacating of the facility is winding down. Please be aware that the MEA has shut down all utilities. They will be discontinued in the next day or two. If you are coming to the Equestrian Center please be sure to bring water from home to give your horse and pack out your manure and trash.

Not only have we had to rehome all the horses but we also have to figure out what to do with our other adopted animals. BC aka Barn Cat aka Charlie was one of the many cats that was dumped at the equestrian center and adopted by MEA. We’ve paid for her spay and vaccines as well as on regular veterinary care. Now that all the horses have left BC is left too… we are still stopping by to feed her and give love but what do we do? Of all things this made me the most sad because she’s such a good kitty

Our friends' beach visit while they were staying with us.

[Partial] Year in Review-

On May 12, 2022, horses of the 11th Armored Cavalry once again rode on the beaches near Monterey, Calif. The 11th Cavalry Regiment was stationed in the area from 1919 to 1940, and Troopers taking their partners out for a day were not a rare sight.

We’ve got 10 horses and 6 alpacas that have been evacuated to the equestrian center. Hopefully their homes will stay safe and they can return within the next couple days. Thank you MEA volunteers and horse community for jumping into action!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting a local troop of Girl Scouts to earn their horsemanship badge. Thank you to our Santa Cruz County Pony Clubbers and our resident instructors Nichole and Cathleen for volunteering your time to make this cool event happen! Just another way organizations rooted in community make a difference!
