Hi all,
I thought I would post on here to show a grooming method called Hand-stripping and carding. It involves a technique of pulling the dead coat off and revealing the ideal layer of coat. This technique is done on wire coated terriers and sporting dogs.
So you may be wondering why should your wire coated dog or sporting breed have this done, this is to keep their skin healthy, a harsh coat, and their coloring.
If you are thinking of cutting your wire coated dog’s hair, carding is essential to keep their coat healthy. Strip and clip is another method to use if you want to keep some of the pet’s coat texture. It involves stripping the coat and furnishings lightly and then using clippers over the rest of the coat.
If it is something you would be interested in I would love to answer any other questions you might have don’t be afraid to shoot me a message!
Pictured below is an Irish terrier who has a blown coat that I stripped down. He hates his legs, feet, and belly being touched and would not let me strip those down. And yes that big pile of hair is everything pulled! 3.5 hours later and he looks like a whole new dog.
