In mid January I saw a post on Facebook about dogs in desperate need of help. The weather was in the negatives, and the dogs were sealed into make shift kennels of things someone had thrown together in the yard to build walls. There were no doors. My wonderful husband bathed one (15 or more times) while I started removing matting on this doodle. It took me 3 hours ( on average it takes 3 hours for me to groom a large extremely hairy doodle). So as you could imagine it was a horrible process. Luckily though, to myself and everyone else’s surprise, she was fairly healthy! Yay! I had her for almost a week, and all she craved for was loving and affection, and she was willing to give it back always! My sweet dad took her for a walk around Home Depot to give me a break from listening to her bark while I work (she would be kenneled at this time and bark almost nonstop). To my surprise he came back with news that a wonderful woman who works at Home Depot, who also fosters children, fell in love with this wonderful dog and loved her so much she came to get her that very night! It was incredible and so heart warming to see her go to her forever home. Fast forward to today, she has had her first real groom (hair is still filling in) her name is Darla and she is a perfect fit in her forever home. My heart is so full today.

This is my Australian Shepard, I’m using him as an example of how a healthy diet and regular grooming will control shedding to a point that it is tolerable in your home (even in the height of shedding season). I haven’t groomed him since mid January and pre bath all I brushed was behind his ears. This is the bath tub after a high velocity blow dry, and a deshedding bath. Very minimal hair! Give me the chance to help you too! ☺️
