Hi there my name is Dozer! The ladies here tell me I’m the best boy. I think I’m about 6 years old but who keeps up with that. I may not be a spring chicken anymore but would still be a great hiking buddy, I love to play ball, and play with my sister Olive. Olive went to a foster home today to learn how to “dog” again, so it’s just me for now. I’m told I deserve a much better home than where I came from. I love snacks, and on cold days to lay in a warm dog bed. In my old house I had both cat and dog brothers and sisters so I’m used to both. I would like to meet any other dogs here before I see them at home though. I know how to sit and I do my best not to jump on people too. I’m so excited that I can finally go to a new home and can’t wait to meet everyone! My adoption fee is $65 I’m already neutered and up to date on vaccines. If you have any questions about me call 828-652-6643 during open shelter hours or just come by to meet me!

The past two days we have taken in 30 puppies!! We have 12 dog runs. This makes for harsh decisions that need to be made.
Please stop dumping puppies. It is against the law! Our tiny shelter can’t handle much more.

**At this time we can not accept any dogs**

These two have been dealt a bad hand in life. They deserve so much more than they were given. All of the other animals from the household have been placed in foster homes already. Ideally we would like them to go into a foster to adopt home. They do not have to go together. Both dogs have been housed with cats and other dogs. They have lived in a household before but we are unsure if they are housebroken or not, they are both very food motivated so treat rewards will go a long way. Both dogs have started to go a little stir crazy and would love a home setting. Dozer is the brindle dog he is a neutered male. Dozer loves to play ball, and snuggle up on a nice soft bed for a nap. Dozer is about 7 years old and weighs around 50 lbs. He loves everyone. Olive is a spayed female about a year old and around 40 lbs. Olive takes about a day to warm up to a person but after that she will be your best friend. Olive would do best in a quiet home. She also loves treats and makes a great lap dog. Olive enjoys playing with stuffed animals and occasionally her dog brother Dozer. Olive unfortunately does not display well in her kennel so gets overlooked often. If you have any questions regarding either dog or fostering please call the shelter at (828) 652-6643 or come by Tuesday-Saturday from 10a-4p.

Our sweet Chance is back due to no fault of his own. Chance was our last year’s longest resident. Chance does not do well in this setting and in the few short days he’s been back we have already seen him decline. We are concerned this time Chance won’t be a candidate for adoption long if doesn’t get out of the shelter. He NEEDS a home. Some things we learned during his time out of the shelter, Chance can be in a home with children, he is good with most dogs but we would want to do a meet and greet at the shelter before he went home, he is housebroken and crate trained when taken out on a schedule. Things that we know from Chances time with us last year, chance knows how to sit, he LOVES water, he enjoys hikes, he likes snuggles once he’s ran out his energy and just wants to sit in your lap, Chance does not like cats. Chance is 5 years old he is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. Chance’s adoption fee has been sponsored. Please call (828) 652-6643 or come by Tuesday-Saturday from 10a-4p with any questions or to meet this handsome boy.
